Anybody know how this square peg goes in this round hole? It is an E brake cable kit and 11 inch Ford drums - both from Quick Performance. Im not always the sharpest crayon in the box and my google skills are weak this morning. IMG_3603.jpeg

    IT doesn't.

But if you had a Ford Explorer rear with disc brakes, it would fit

It’s been a few years for me, but that square hole bracket doesn’t go on the brake end it’s the other end. The cable end with the ball fits in the slot on the silver lever - parking brake actuator.

Dangit! Then other end is naked cable- designed to go in this goober.

I ordered these drums and clicked the box that added a brake cable kit so I ASSumed they’d be a matched set.

Thanks for the replies, looks like they sent me the wrong thing. It is that or theyve got a really loose definition of “universal”.

If it has the spring, you can maybe remove the clevis, and put the ball in the slot on the lever? (I don't know what the rest of the cable you have looks like, I just got a picture of a Lokar cable set to illustrate)

Yes, that looks familiar and right. No springs and the directions are biased towards disk brakes. I will call them on Tuesday. Thanks for all the tech support!

Here are some pictures to help see what the original cable looked like. Its got a barrel shaped end that catches in the "claw" and needs the correct push-in size for the hole in the backing plate. A ball on the end of the cable might also work as long as it doesn't pop out. Probably a little ingenuity might be needed if you have a ball on the cable.

Click on the pictures for a better view...........:)

Hey ekimneirbo, thanks for posting the pics. Those parts look a lot more familiar and proper. I sent an email to QP, and theyre pretty good to work with so theyll probably work it out.

Yeah, many times places term use for "universal" means its may fit, it may not, it may be close or may not, could be made to work if you have the time, tooling and knowledge to do so.... or maybe not....

An old biker friend of mine (RIP) used to say, " yeah man, universal fit, don't fit nothin in the universe". :D

  16. Bells ringing but I can’t find the phone. Can you remove the end of your cable and use the ball that holds the disc brake piece? Instructions might cover that. Used several of those cables. Don’t remember ordering non disc,

Cut the bracket off of the cable.

The ball end is inside of it.

he can just pull the cable out of the housing, and pull the cable out of the bracket, as there is nothing attached to the other end....
