I'll admit to not knowing a lot about small block Chevrolets, especially the 307. I've read several posts on here saying that they were POS engines and other posts that described them as good runners. The plastic timing gears can be replaced with steel and double roller chain. There is a 307 for sale locally on FB. It has had the timing gears replaced, cam changed, has a new starter, new flex plate, water pump, chrome Edelbrock valve covers, HEI distributor, stock exhaust manifolds and stock engine mounts. The owner is keeping the intake and carb. For $280, am I going to get hurt if I buy this.
good motor. the valves did smoke because of the seals when new, at a little over 100k miles. they are the same motor as a 283-350. you will never get "hurt" at 250. bucks.
