  1. Hello I met a guy who’s willing to sell me some stromberg 97s he’s giving me 8 complete cores and 2 none complete and extra parts for 700 bucks is this a good deal?

It is if the cores are good. Really truly good rebuildable cores, not all beat up around the float bowl, not frozen, complete and just needing to be rebuilt, seem to go for $150 each around here, and aren't very common either. If you're getting 8 of those and a couple of parts carbs for 7 bones, I'd consider that a very good deal if you need them. But some people consider anything as a good "core". If they're all froze up or beat up, then you're probably paying full retail price and might not be able to make 8 good carbs out of what's there. Also a bonus if they're all matching logo size.

  3. Keep in mind that a lot of folks confuse the 81 and 48 carbs with 97s. So you really need to check what's cast into the sides of the middle venturi/float bowl section. They all have different values, and a large number 97 will have more value than a small number 97.

  4. Stromberg 97 carburetors, both large logo and small logo have 31/32 embossed on the passenger ide of the fuel bowl. Stromberg 40, and 48 carburetors have 1, 1/32 embossed on the passenger side of the fuel bowl. Large logo Stromberg 97 carburetors tend to draw more money than small logo Stromberg 97's. Functionally they are both the same. The only difference is the size of the logo and the size of your ego and your wallet.
