I am a huge fan of the 4 bar steering wheels used in Fridge trucks. upload_2024-9-12_16-51-14.jpeg

Inspired by Schroeder and Bell sprintcar steering wheels

Made from a sheet of aircraft aluminum, the material is a high strength alloy with pure aluminum clad both sides for corrosion resistance. I wore out a lot of saber saw blades cutting it out. Finish shaped by hand with vixen files, as that was all I had. The grip is Push Loc hose, split and taped on. This wheel weighs less than half of the real things, and only cost me time and the saw blades. The last vehicle it was in was my ot Austin Mini. They have really twitchy steering. The larger wheel helped reduce that...

1950-53 Oldsmobile Automatic watch steering wheel.
I believe that the turning of the steering wheel wound the watch!

When you got the steering wheel clock option, you also got a compass option, where the clock normally went in the top center of the dash

  20. My first car, a 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe 4 door had that same wheel. There is a 1941 here in town with one.

    Neat wheel.

I had one of those Chevy accessory spinner steering wheels and had planned to hang it up with my other ones but there's such a huge demand for those, I figured it was better to sell it to someone who'd actually use it in a car again. Too cool to be relegated to a wall hanger.

  27. Kool because of the car it is in and because it is extremely rare. I had to modify a 4-hole wheel to get this iconic version.
