I cut the entire front off an old tank. Hung it from the windshield valance.

Stock gas tank. Site glass fuel gauge, with jeweler's lupe glued to back side to magnify tank mounted site gauge. Modern instruments with stock speedo.
Fabricated sub dash to house switches on left end and 1din audio on the right end.

    Old Thread,but a good one.
I kept it on the simple side,oil/water temp/speed-O stock 28A hooked into 57 Ford tranny, light switch n key, did ad some wood as a new upper dash rail,,on last rebuild.
I had stored a few parts badly,so rust set in hard. Had to do some fix's.
The topper dash rail layed on garage floor near leaky window=rusted out bad.
After hunting replacements,I just made one out of wood to match other wood in cockpit. 009.JPG

It is a military wheel. I don’t know what for. You can see in the unfinished pic the drab green color.

33 chevy dash modified to fit and attach to a model a upper dash. With a basic stainless gauge panel. Speedo, Tach, volts, oil press, water temp.

Will eventually get a 40s ford starter button and headlight switch. Rebuilt a 39 ignition lock switch so the key will be in that.

There are many instrument panels from older vehicles that would work nicely in an A. The Essex ’pinecone’ panel is a particularly attractive one, shown in the middle. They all can be upgraded with new gauges.

Back in the sixties I built an A/SR 29 A roadster. This photo shows the wood dash and instruments while I was converting it to streetable use.
