Hi everybody, thanks in advance for the replies. , 53 car with a 235 & 2 ring “3.11 low gear” Saginaw 4 speed with 3.55 rear. Pondering about swapping to aT5 , due to a very hard to find a new 2 ring input shaft my Saginaw 4 speed. I have a good used one but wanna weigh the options. Question is , how much tighter it will be on the top side next to the floor hump where the top plate comes off the T5 as it visually appears? I’ve not yet to find another t5 too measure from the centerline of the input shaft. My reason is I’ve relocated a lokar hand lever parking brake right above that hump, which cleared the Saginaw 4 speed barely . I’m wondering if anyone else on a regular swap can you let me know if it’s really tight-on the top plate of the T5 next to the floor. Thanks ! Flux

If memory serves right there wasn't a lot of room above the stock 3 speed in those. I'm thinking that you will probably have to rework the hump any how.
Just looking at the difference above the top bolts to the bellhousing on this Camaro T5 and a Saginaw 4 speed. The diagram from lugnutz65's page pretty well shows the added height of the case for the shifter on the S-10 as does the photo from his page. I have a S-10, t-5. Measures 4 1/4" from the top of the case to the center of the input shaft. You'll like it behind your 235.

That sounds about right. When I was looking for measurements this morning it showed the Ford T 5 as being 4 inches from the center of the main shaft to the top of the cover. Screenshot (1002).png

  7. Fix the Saginaw and add an OD from a Saginaw 3spd OD :)

I did ……& am now realizing it needed the much stronger 2 series gear set , lol. & when we built this car 3.55 gear nova diff was intended with this sag & then o/d was added , it worked great , just too high rear gear , if I would’ve thought it through I’d put 4.10 in diff like our 66 & 69 c10s dad ordered were only available with. IMG_1389.jpeg Sometimes you gotta learn trial & error & I’m putting her back in another 210 club coupe I’m gonna start on soon & this time no ring input & easy to locate parts , 5 sag 4 speeds & a couple 3 speeds stashed & for now this case will get the 3.11 spare input & new collar till I can gather t5 info & plan a future swap. The input teeth had just enough wear to give it up. After I’d settled on this ratio , I just got rid of a low mile weak 3 ring 3.50 low gear Vega sag , yet fortunate to gather spares & t5’s are $ fetching good money too so time to find a few for the future !

That's the highest point. Extends all aling the main case. Mine has survived 12 years of street use, drag racing, and Bonneville runs. Just replaced it with a Muncie hopeing to get a closer gear ratio spacing. Miss the 5th gear overdrive though.

You may have a little more room as I have the rear mount spaced up some to get angle. IMG_2828.jpeg IMG_2829.jpeg also have a Hot Rod Works trans crossmember
