    Hello All,

My truck has been sitting a long time. I tried to get her out today and it looks like the clutch is not engaging. It worked last time I used it about a year ago. Everything is still connected and moving between the pedal and what goes into the transmission. What can do to get it unstuck?

Drive around in high gear at 30 MPH ... depress clutch pedal, then, on the gas, off, on, off ... repeat until it frees up. Usually about 10 times will do it.

  3. If you think the disc is stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate, put it in gear, step on the clutch and hit the starter. Make sure you're safe in case the vehicle moves. This is what they used to do after long transports in the hold of a ship before shipping containers, maybe they still do. Good luck.

^ Or, have a helper rock your truck back and forth, while you push in the clutch pedal with the transmission in gear.

Ok so she starts fine I push the clutch and I cannot get her into gear because the transmission grinds. I have taken the inspection cover off and it looks stuck? I never messed with the clutch and I really don’t know what it is supposed to look like. I tried starting in gear and she won’t start just lugs and no change on the clutch.

    Then not dis-engaging.
Put the rear on jack stands, start in high gear. Get the speed to about 30, foot in clutch and stomp on the brake pedal. Might take a few times. I think it’s stuck to the flywheel.

Edit: would happen to me in my old trucks with manual transmissions that sat for too long.

    Thank you!

I was too afraid to do this because my luck sometimes. I had a helper hold down the clutch and I stuck a thin screw driver in there and it popped. Then I drove around burning old gas and making lots of noise for about two hours. I really missed driving that heap. Thanks again

Main thing is, she goes again!

  12. Glad you freed the disc and are up driving again.
