I have been lusting after one of these for a while, but they've been very elusive to find locally, until now. Found this one just 2 hours away, complete with ******, and its a runner, all I need now is to find an early 30's something to put it in .
damn.. you know what i find interesting, is the fact that the engine mounts(casting on the motor) looks the same as the 49-62 overhead valvemotors!
DHD congrats..now call cyclone kevin and get your hands on a pair of heads. The Burrell intake is being done in small rounds. he made 3, and is considering to do another 3. pm me if you want his email adress and a little caddy flat **** as well..these are the parts Cyclone Kevin is about to deliver at the shipping company. suppose to be here in 5 weeks cant wait! Palle Ps: Indashop had Edmunds heads and intake for sale here..dont know if the still have
must be a good day for finding caddy flatheads just got my hands on one today for a hundered bux with the ****** too... i dont think its in as good as shape as yours but its not locked up so i got that goin for me came with a nos carb and a set of exhaust manifolds that are damn near perfect looking next fathoming spening all the money for the heads and intake
From someone who has been hunting Flathead Caddy stuff for two years now, you have my condolences, the both of you...LOL. Welcome to the world of hunting FILLINGS for HENS TEETH. Glenn
Sweet! Join the club!!! Sick motors, and also I mean the weight 899 is no supermodel. Our *****es are fat! Speedequip isn't that bad, its just rare and hard to find OG stuff. There are a few peices getting produced today. Note I didn't say repop'd as these are same as '50 years ago from the same molds. Cyclone, Edmunds, Burrell I made a CNC plasma run for exhaust manifold flanges two months ago. They came out pretty ****py, something with the nozzel. So I'm going to make a laser run. But of course that machine takes a different file format and I haven't got that done yet. Savage makes a MilSpec Dizzy. Egge carries all the internals. So there are a lot of options. And Palle mentioned I had a set of Edmunds Heads and Intake for sale, I do not, they sold a week or so ago. Good luck and keep us posted on what direction you go.
I am a super Scrounger.. and it took me about 4 years to gather up stuff,. An part of it was with the help of Palle and Kevin.. I did a small run of dual point distributors for them too. Its like trying to find the rarest flathead for stuff but harder. Because there were so few people that ran them Aaron
Back in '59, I blew the engine in my '50 Ford, and had one of these all ready to replace it. All my buddies thought I was nuts, and talked me out of it. Good luck with it. Let's see more pics when you find the car to put it in.
Well, then I guess I'm the stupid one here, selling mine... But I know it's gonna get a good home, ain't that right, Palle? Here's Palle's engine ( a bit dirty from this California pic some years back), the "donor" car and a nice dressed up engine. J.B.
I have access to a pair of stock heads at $75 each or $150 for the pair plus freight. That is if anybody is interested. Gumpa
Nice score! There was a guy selling a caddy flathead and trans for $850 on the SF Craigslist a week or too back. It looked super clean and supposedly was a runner. I was hoping someone here would buy it. Do they really weigh 900#???
Yeah, the speed stuff is pricey, but at least it is available. I knew what I was getting into when I bought this, and I am in no rush , I just started on my 55 Coupe DeVille. Thanks for all the great info on parts, without a resource like the HAMB, I wouldn't even know where to start. I will keep everyone updated on progress
Looking for one of them too. Can't spend too much but would like a cool take out. as Joe The Pharoh said, "I have an idea, I have a good idea!" Could swap for a set of heads=Lol!
Hey Cyclone, I love those heads of yours!! Only problem with that swap is that I wouldn't have a motor for them any more.... so don't tempt me
