My dad and his brother went to St.Louis in Sept of 62. They went to work on the truck line. Dad later went to corvette and was a spray painter until he retired from the bowlinggreen plant. I was in the old plant in st Louis. Loud and very hot.
The browning problem is called blooming or tire bloom. It's caused by an anti-ozone additive in the rubber compound reacting with heat, moisture and sunlight. I don't know if it was a formula problem or what but some manufacturers have seemingly solved the problem while others have not. I have experimented with all kinds of stuff to remove it and have found that regular Armor All and a stiff brush turns the crap to a mud that then can be washed off, leaving the tire nice and black.
I’m wondering if it was a prototype that never was because the hood is missing the NASA scoops and it looks pretty neat with the pony emblem instead of the cobra. Nevertheless me likey
