Back to the Coupe! Not sure how this happened, but I didn’t plan on recessing the firewall for the distributor. The body’s definitely positioned right on the frame, and moving it back any further would look ridiculous. Oh well, time to break out the grinder and get custom  PRO: Room for a future nailhead???:p

    Much better!

Garage safety tip #1: Turns out hoodies aren't flame-resistant. Who knew? So, if you're grinding, try not to light yourself on fire :p

Figured out a plan for the floor and how to finish up the firewall

Spent a ton of time thinking how to go about this transmission hump. This is what I came up with.

Back on the saws to get this floor together... Time to call dad lol! Went with marine grade 3/4" plywood for the floor and normal 3/4" for the bulkhead (more on this later).

Our nephew came over for the weekend to learn a thing or two. Perfect—put him to work! Gotta start 'em young if we're gonna keep this Hot Rodding tradition alive!

Getting the reproduction wood kit from Snyder's Antique Auto stained and installed. Can't say enough good things about the quality of these pieces. WOW! Thanks Snyder's! I'll be back!

Forgot to show this earlier, but here’s the fuel tank setup I built. It adds a ton of support to the body and gives me a solid spot to mount a bulkhead.

Happy New Year HAMBERS (2024)!!! Nothing better than spending New Years Eve in the garage with your family staining floor boards :)!!

Back to Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale—this time with my folks and father-in-law! Another unforgettable trip and one hell of a good time!

Had the nephew over for some garage time! First, we pulled the body off the frame—hopefully for the last time. He wasted no time and got to work painting the bottom of 'his future Coupe'—his words, not mine. LOL! :p

Those mini van seats are comfy, have one in our Coupe! Great to see you and Dad spending quality time together (there’s that “Family” thing again). Sad to see that you lost a fur kid, you know why they All go to Heaven. Coupe’s coming along great, Carp. IMG_1991.jpeg

Thanks for all the kind words, Carp, I really appreciate it! I’ve heard great things about these seats, so I’m looking forward to breaking it in and digging a groove into it. It’s always a blast spending time with Dad—gotta keep that ‘Family’ thing going strong. And yeah, losing any animal is tough, but we know they’ve got a good spot up there. Thanks again!

After a lot of thought, I decided If I’m going to take this old Hot Rod to the next level and truly bring my dream to life, doing the bodywork myself just isn’t in the cards. Right now, I simply don’t have the hours in the day to make it perfect the way it deserves. So, off to the sandblaster she goes—time to wipe the slate clean and start with a fresh canvas!

    20240311_191249.jpg 20240311_191239.jpg 20240311_191301.jpg 20240311_213121.jpg 20240313_162253.jpg 20240313_191820.jpg 20240313_191737.jpg IMG_20240326_160831.jpg IMG_20240326_160838.jpg IMG_20240326_160839.jpg IMG_20240326_160840.jpg IMG_20240326_160842.jpg IMG_20240326_160843.jpg IMG_20240326_160845.jpg IMG_20240326_160858.jpg IMG_20240326_161103.jpg IMG_20240326_164055.jpg IMG_20240326_171720.jpg IMG-20240326-WA0025.jpg IMG-20240326-WA0026.jpg

Gotta confess... I’m feeling a little too excited staring at this beautiful 94-year-old in her birthday suit :D

If you're looking for a great blaster in the Edmonton area, give Dave with Vintage Blast a shout. He knows what he is doing!

Off to Jus Cuz Customs in Edmonton for Epoxy coat and to discuss the plan

With the body off getting all dolled up, it's time to tear down the chassis and get some paint on it. I set up a spray booth in the garage and hit it with Rustoleum semi-gloss thinned with acetone. I think it came out pretty slick! The plan is to run it like this for a few years, work out the kinks, (nailhead maybe) then pull the body again and go for a powdercoat on the frame.

20240510_155659.jpg Meanwhile, over at the body shop, things are moving! They hit the body with epoxy as soon as it arrived. Now it's time to circle back and fix up my amateur bodywork. Regrets? Not a chance! I learned a ton and enjoyed every second of it. Plus, I’ve got a whole new level of respect for anyone who can nail bodywork—it’s no walk in the park, that’s for sure.

No rear panhard bar. I sourced all the suspension parts through Vaphead (via Pete and Jakes), including a 9” housing with all the necessary mounting brackets pre installed. No adverse issues in 5 years. BTW, your build skills are impressive. Great work.

Reached out to Limeworks and picked up one of their 5" 32' column drops. Puts the steering wheel in a perfect and comfortable position for me!

How's this for a score? Found an original new in box Walker radiator from 1988 in the local classifieds. Old hotrod shop was closing and they had this stashed away!

Made the decision to move the gas filler neck to the outside of the car. As it moves along I've realized that it deserves a beautiful interior to match the exterior!
