well, thats the reason for asking first... figured some one tried smaller than 81's.... my now thought is to fab a manifold to the header so it's all one piece... and put to weber 1 barrels on it...but I have to land on a carb choice to know the carb base flange... need some where in the 200 cfm range total,... the weber does just that... that give me an idle circuit for 1&2.... and 3&4

also, doubt that I'll be the first to try something to make it better, and it fails...

45 minutes ago we just got back to camp after driving our Model T's up to the top of Cedar Break and Brian Head, 11,307 feet altitude! 103 mile round trip for me. My '27 T has a 6-1 Z head, Model B manifolds and carb and a 2.25" exhaust. 4-1 Ruckstell rear end, Rocky Mountain 3 speed auxillary trans and Rocky Mountain brakes. It will climb a cliff and still run 55 down the road and then some. Not so much up hill! The B carb makes a big difference. To respond to your other thread about wood wheels not being strong or safe I have to disagree. We are runnning wire wheels but Dennis just changed from wood to wires but he has run his wood wheels many many thousands of miles and they were just getting tired and need rebuilt. He drove his '26 T roadster from Central Oregon to Indiana for the 100th anniversary and back on original 1926 wood wheels. Would I run them with a hot flathead V8? No, but even a mildly warmed up T is no problem with wood wheels. Give your old T's a chance!

Sorry this is mixed between carb questions and your other posts but I hope it helps ya.

Don't know if you are in Kanab or Las Vegas but we are camped at the Bryce Zion Rv park not all that far from you but it's a lot of hwy speed to deal with in a T or I'd come see ya!

pretty sure the wood wheel deal is not any differant than the model a gas tank in your lap, what I said was it spooks me with the couple going off a cliff on the way to zion from kanab.... but we'll be in kanab thursday, and the car show at mt carmel friday and sat...right down the 89 from where you are... our house is @ 2nd and main in kanab if you do get out there...enjoy...

also I have 3 T's with wood wheels...all are drivers if some one wanted to drive them..for me they are yard art...

We take off in the morning for Hurricane / Virgin to a dispersed camping area for 3 nights, drive all the dirt roads we can find, then off to Ely NV.

I'll throw in my 2 cents although I'm just gaining experience with bangers. When my Model B was running, it had a single 97, it ran well. I've since bought two 81s for my upcoming engine build because I wanted them. Is it a Mistake? I'll find out but I'm only going to know if I try it.

if you go thru mt carmel, you can either take the 89 through kanab.... , colorado city, and drop into hurricane... or right out of mt carmel at the top of the hill take the pick coral sand dunes turnoff... stay on the road it will turn in to cane beds road, at the end turn right and it goes to hurricane...super nice drive going that way...going through zion is a zoo... going the duck creek way is way longer and lots of freeway after you go over the pass...If you break and need some thing hit me up,.. I have 3 t's in kanab and bringing a forth tomorrow..

Yep! Through the dunes is the way we went today. Yesterday we stopped in Duck Creek as we returned from Brian Head on top of Cedar Break. I missed the turn at the 9600 feet point on the way to Cedar Break and went down the other side 10 miles or so, then had to climb back up. 103 miles on the T yesterday, used 5 gallons for 20 mpg!

We are in Virgin today. We'll drive the back roads tomorrow, then next is Ely Nevada.

    Thanks for the offer too!

PS, I really like your primered roadster pickup hotrod!
