The section from Seligman to Kingman is well worth the travel....it is well maintained with lots of sights...

Somehow I missed this thread. Thanks for taking us along. I love seeing banger powered cars really being used. I must not be crazy pursuing a daily driver capable banger.

 

coming out of the hills and starting to drop into the valley to Kingman... the weather has been cool for me...crossing my fingers that it stays that way...the rest of the trip happened top down
oh the stuff at this place but it was early in the AM and it wasn't open
years ago there was a Historical Outhouse Society formed and I bought a charter membership for my wife...they had some pretty cool calendars up until they didn't....

 

High milage, never driven by an old lady to Church...I could dig this Merc more door waggon as a daily but it appears to be mostly rust free...if that windshield ever got broken....
Parallel to the BNSF rail mainline...the wiper blade almost hid the lead engine....there was lots and lots of rail traffic with it visible from RT66 and I-40
....I don't understand my application times out and I can't upload files...so now after three and I'll sign back in

 

Just open sky and road starting to have the long distance view from the fires in Cali affecting the long distance view.....Kingman the modern one

 

Back on the interstate...need to make tracks as I want to be in Bakersfield by this evening....
the highway was choked with truck traffic and terrible road surfaces....I cruised between 65 and 70 mph where the car was the happiest....a flat spotted steering tire above 70 shook the car enough I surely wouldn't fall asleep

I drive my banger cars routinely and even daily but they take time and effort to keep them that way...you are crazy but there are worst things to be crazy about.... I tell folks "it's the most money you can spend to go slow"
It is always rewarding to get to my destination and back with no catastrophic failure....No NAPA, Auto Zone or other modern store has parts available...someone told me recently NAPA= Never Any Parts Available

 

Great story so far- how many miles? Awaiting some more pictures from the event.

 

over the Colorado river into Cali....the car was airborne twice on the rough road....

Needles California here about 580 miles so far....400 more to go

 

Leaving Needles lots of desert...
and in Boron CA some mining and processing Getting to the hills and a pull up and over to my destination Highway 58 was a good road....and to Highway 101 Down the Highway 101 to Santa Margherita Ranch....entrance.... At the ranch I meet up with Steve and his neighbor Ed.....I came to hang out with these guys

 

It's friday before the main event on Saturday and the folks have to wait entrance to set up
Finally...parked in the pits and unload...the first time out for Steves car
