As a kid growing up in Sydney Australia I would get on my bicycle and ride over to Bankstown Square shopping mall for the annual hot rod show. Also, another called Roselands in Sydney. Equipped with my Kodak camera. Back in the day when shopping malls closed at mid-day on a Saturday and simpler times. @40ragtopdown, cheers for my walk down memory lane.

Jack Chrisman was famous for all of his drag racing exploits. But, his 29 sedan was ripping up the early So Cal dragstrips in the 50s to the early 60s.

The black and white photos do not do the sedan justice. The wild pinstriping stands the test of time. but the color was so important, from those early days with faded color to the modern times of a re-creation for public display

Someone might say there are no people in the museum during these photos. Yes, that is true. After we had meeting about the long composite 16mm color film digital reel playing on the wall near This Jack Chrisman display, I was able to wander around taking photos at my leisure without anyone standing somewhere in the photos. It was early set up day and in looking back at the photos of the hot rods and old drag race cars we all enjoyed, that was the purpose of a Lion’s Dragstrip museum. YRMV

Jack Chrisman raced his 1929 Model Tudor Sedan at Lions running 115 mph on Nitro with a Flathead and 125 with a 331 Hemi.
