Getting eager to go to Hershey again this year. No matter how many times I’ve been there, always happy to return. A few years back I came to the conclusion that what you are looking for is there with the only limits being: Can you find it before someone else and is it within your price expectations. Over the years, many things have followed me home and I actually used some of them Perhaps more important than what you find is who you meet and reunite with along the way. Good opportunity to mix with many people with similar interests. I can remember camping out with my dad in the back of his truck on the hill above the old air strip almost 50 years ago. I’m guessing you all have some stories too. So, feel free to add them in. In the meantime, I’ll share this photo of the “Hershey Hauler” in for its annual tire rotation and lube.
It is a social affair for sure. Sometimes finding that right part is secondary. You will always find something that you didn't know you needed.
...and also see things that you don't see anywhere else. That goes for both cars and parts. Where else do you see a prototype Crosley six cylinder engine?
I used to take off of work and always go on Friday for the flea market as it seemed like the best day to go. Now that they changed the schedule what day is the best to go? I'm retired so I can go any day.
The best day to go to any show with vendors is the day the vendors are setting up. Because most of the best deals they have are snapped up by other vendors.
...or very early on the last day when vendors are packing up and decide that they don't want to carry all of this stuff back home!
Ordinarily that would be great advice, however, impossible to cover all the fields in 1 day. Also, In the past when I’ve been there on set up day, there were too many holes in the field from vendors who had not arrived. As it stands with the new schedule, Monday is set up day. Tuesday is a good day and Wednesday see traffic and attendance build. Thursday gets kinda weak vendor wise as many are packing to leave or have done so Wednesday night. My thought: any day without rain is a good day at Hershey.
I will be there on Monday, with my HAMB hat on, flag me down fellow members. Hope to meet with you guys. Yea , I am playing hooky from work.
I intend to be there, at least on Tuesday with AVater, visiting people that I only see once a year. The people are what is important, not the parts.
I need a vendor space or spaces. I was asleep at the switch in the Spring and lost the ability to renew my space.
I’ll be in my (permanent) location- GAI 18-19, or almost beneath light pole 118. We sell Chevy and GMC truck parts, 1937-46. Selling in the morning, walking in the afternoon. Always available by cell- at least until it goes dead.
Weather looks good! I’ll be at C4J 36 come visit and pick up a bargain. All loaded. See you in the morning. I plan on coming home empty. So do your part. I’ll do mine! Safe travels everyone.
I plan to be there, north Chocolate C4Y 1-4. Bringing mostly stock model A Ford parts, '27-'28 Chrysler hood, '28-'29 Plymouth hood, accessory under-dash heaters, misc. headlights, '30's Dodge and Plymouth artillery wheels and more good stuff.
I'll be there Wednesday and maybe Friday, hoping to meet up with the elusive Hot Rod Grille. Went to Fall Carlisle today. (do we really need political signage at a car meet-or multitudes of idiots who can;t drive a scooter?). Anyway, a beautiful day. It looked like plenty of vendors, but they;d compressed the field and the upper half was extremely thin or empty altogether. The car corral never even started up the hill and was, maybe, 40%. full. Hershey will be better.
Leaving at 6:00 am Monday! 9 hour drive in a buddies bone-stock '39 Ford sedan. Definitely plan to have lunch with Jeff (5-window) on Wednesday. Weather is supposed to be awesome. Happy hunting everyone! Jim Hot Rod Grille
Looking forward to it! Got an umbrella in the car just in case-it is Hershey after all! HRG and I have been friends for 20 odd years but never met until two years ago. The power of the HAMB
I’m heading out Wednesday night, probably take a nap and hit the swap meet as soon as it opens on Thursday. Looking mostly for 38/39 Zephyr stuff and tooling to rebuild flathead engines, maybe 223 I6 stuff too
