Front tires for a trifive gasser, what is the desired height? Rear tires, lets say you have enough power to pull the front tires, what do you need for rear tires to make it happen knowing your not tubbing or mini tubbing at this time? Back in the day the PieCrust rears were popular but if I remember correctly they wert the stickiest of rubbers, have things changed? Thanks!

  2. Short front tires look wrong on a straight axle car to me. Mine are 7.75-15 IMG_20190726_155413011.jpg IMG_20190726_155454643.jpg
Rear, 10 inch wheels were about as wide as was used pre'65. 10.00 - 15. You're right, not as sticky as modern slicks. I run Hoosiers at the track.

    I built a 56 Chevy 210 Gasser A few years back and I used 10/15 raider Slicks outback and 6 70 15 out front.

Front tire height in inches? What In am trying to do is utilize everything I have on the shelves, on the floor, in the attic, under feet, etc. Until I find the appropriate front wheels I am stuck with some Chrome Kidney style 14" so want to make the illusion of 14" to a 15" with smoke & mirrors! Universal Tire lists a B.F. Goodrich 750-14, it's nice and tall.

Thank you, 14" is practically a Dinasaur!

  7. Not a tri-five but on my Henry J I ran 28 × 10.5 on an 8.5 wide rim to get lift off

  9. Yes, they look nice, too. As a teen, the chrome slots on my car were rusty, SOS pads were my friend. I am tempted to buy the new ones for my '55.
