  6. That's some great bead rolling. I like the thinner beads over the stock profile. Also, custom made panels just look stronger.

I thought it turned out pretty good. Got some prep work before final fitting.

Starting to get happy with it. Had a little oil canning when I first screwed it down. With a little work with the shrinker and two beads from the other direction on each side.

Not a lot of progress as we had rain for a few days. I did get the fuel cell sump pan welded in. I was going to weld the whole pan in then decided not to so it would be easier to build and attach the outer wheel wells.

I dig your raised trunk floor. I'm going to (kinda) copy that when I remove the spare tire well from the floor of our '52 DeSoto wagon. The gas tank is a weird shape to wrap around the spare well, it's very shallow with raised portion like the letter "L" laid 5701D66E-4DA2-43DA-9D2B-BB9A85FC8008.jpeg on it's side. The fuel pump and sending unit are the tall section, it only holds 18 gallons, and because the sending unit is also in the tall portion, it reads wrong.
I'm going to use an early 90's Chevy van tank, which holds 30 gallons, has the same length and width, filler hole in the same spot so I can use the same sender and fuel pump. I can throw a spare on the floor behind the rear seat when we travel, I'll have 500+ range. We don't carry a spare now.

I didn’t carry a spare or jack for quite some time. Never had an issue but I decided not to push my luck any further and have them now.
    Love your wagon.

Piece by piece, hope to keep the tire smoke out of the car.

  25. I think that should work James. Are you going to seam seal as well?

My plan is to silicone the pieces to the quarter and run a bead between the patch and the original wheel well then screw them on.

Thanks Mikey. Heading out of town tomorrow to help my buddy with his car in Iowa. Have a bunch of 349/409 guys having a race at Tri State Raceway. Have a feeling I should stay home.
