Hmm. Tough to narrow down to three. I guess I’d go with:

    40 ford coupe
68 or 69 Plymouth roadrunner (sorry)
    Project 38 Chevy coupe.

All in black, and none too nice to drive.

I have never been married. So I can't play.
I have had most of cars I have wanted. I wouldn't want a show rod. (I don't like to clean that much chrome)
I might like a historic hot rod that could be driven. Maybe a 69 Hurst Olds. I would also want a GTO from 65-69

    Hello,

When I was in high school getting ready to go on to college, the 409 motor Chevrolet Impalas came out. We could not afford to buy one, as we had a fairly new 58 Impala. When our mom got a license and wanted to buy a new car, of course we tried to get her to buy a 409 powered Chevy Impala. So it would have been a 61 Chevrolet. The bubbletop version was what we were thinking, but our mom probably wanted a 4 door hardtop sedan to have for her weekly lunch and shopping with her friends. Actually, that would have been ok, too.
    upload_2024-9-28_4-25-17.png

But, our backyard would have been over flowing with cars, a Flathead 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery, a 58 Impala sitting in the yard. Then my mom’s car in the larger two car garage, along side of our dad’s Buick sedans. And farther yet. The surfboards and remnants of our Willys build were still in the backyard garage we converted. So, if I wanted to go surfing, I had to move two cars and back my Flathead sedan delivery through a maze of grassy area to the concrete pad and driveway out to the street.

Upon return, I would have to move my brother’s Impala to get to my “parking spot.” It all depended on who was going to leave first right then or if was late at night, first in the morning. Our dad had first choice, since he left around 5 am for Los Angeles. Then on a surfing day, I or we would leave around 6 am.

When my brother moved to old VWs and vans, we had one other car to contend with in the lineup of backyard cars. Our mom’s car would have been in the garage, so later, she could spend the time back and forth to get her car on the driveway to back up to the street. Power steering would definitely be helpful with all of the twists and turns to move all of the cars.

She had a strict policy of no cars on the driveway in front of our house or parked on the street. We had old style trash cans on various days (garbage on one day/trash on another, etc.) street sweepers almost weekly and neighbors marking their territory in front for their own homes for their friend’s parking during visits.

So, if she had bought a 409 Chevy sedan, that would have been a cool A/C car to drive during the hot summer days and cruising at night. YRMV

As it panned out, she opted to get our Impala converted to an automatic and that solved the possible 5 car backyard pile up. (but a converted stick shift to a fast C&O Stick Hydro solved ALL problems…) YES !

If I didn't already have my '49, Ruggiero could replace any of them...but that SBC would be out of there for a Flathead, Nailhead, or Cadillac...

Okay I know if I went to Marks house he’d club me to death like a baby seal, not that I would blame him, so I came up with these picks.
The first two would be original (I know why didn’t he club me:rolleyes:) but the cool factor would make up for it. So here goes………

And for the custom the Hirohata Merc

I would be happy with this list. In high school I wanted a 69 nova bad but nowadays I would probably get to it last, and then feel like an idiot after I had the most fun with it.

If I had to pick my own (today):

    1957 Chevy Nomad
1934 Ford 3 window coupe, probably hemi or caddy powered
    1961 Pontiac Bonneville

I have pretty simple taste… My list will probably be different in a month.

33-34 3 window, somewhere between the Omaha coupe, and a Rolling Bones type car.
