There was a link on 67-72 Chevy Truck forum on putting a early 50's truck on a S10 frame, lurked for quite a while, miss my 55 chevy so may get into something older for my next project.
I have been friends with Hot Rod To Hell since high school and he has always been kinda pushing me to get into hot rodding. I decided this year would be the year and started hanging out with his club, the Nightmares, and going to some of the shows. Billetproof pretty much sealed the deal for me and a few months later another guy in the club, Sephgato, sold me the 56 Buick. I started lurking here just after Billetproof and once I got the car went ahead and registered and have been been hooked since. I probably am on the HAMB as much as my wife is on the MySpace (which is way too much...)
Well I found out about it thru RedBeard I think that was sometime last year and ever since that been on here trying to learn as much as I can from everybody else
I met a guy this summer at a bar who told me about it. It was a cruise night with old cars. I did an intro and registered after that.
i think i was researching what i could do with that 59 fury that's been in my neighbors garage for the past forty years. he raced it in the 60's, i remember him showing it to me when i was wee. that reminds me, i need to try and buy it off him....
A local guy in town Jack "PhatRat" told me about it. I looked a while, sold a few items, bought many items, got beat up a few times, then introduced myself and the rest is history. I find it to be the best website ever on real hot rods. It has so many knowledgeable people here and almost anyone would drop what they are doing to help you out. All you have to do is ask. What more could anyone ask for?
I found the HAMB a LONG time ago. I used to read it and make fun of it because the people were so mean to each other. I always figured people are mean enough in real life, why look to the internet for more abuse? Well, fast forward a few years. I met PeteJoe and he brings up the HAMB again and encourages me to come back and join. So I lurk. Much nicer place. Got a desk job. Join. Addicted. The rest is history.
chopolds told me a bout it along time ago but being a olksckool guy i hated comp. and didn,t get one till last year turn it on been here since
I was lookin over my wifes shoulder when she was surfing...she happened to be looking for HOT RODS for some reason and your site popped up.I booted her off and my life has never been the same.Chuck Norris bows to the H.A.M.B.
Brother-in-law ( unknowingly) introduce me to a HAMBer, Hatman. Turns out we're both artists who love cars. At one time, he was a co-worker of my brothers and so it goes . He's the one done tol' me 'bout the HAMB. Said I'd like the Friday art show. He was right. This is the most inspiring car sight I've visited. It's incredible witness the passion of car lovers/builders/racers... in this sector of the hobby.
kept hearin it on yhe ol skool rodz web site. asked about the reflictive chome powder coating a was sent here. pretty cool place..
Dirty from detroit told me about it. Cause i was looking to buy a custom since i couldnt afford his untill a year later. And thats when i joined. It all boils down to a issue of R&C with Billetproof coverage and Skratch doing a how to. I had never seen cars like that before i was all into Big 70's buicks at the time. This new style of cars i saw was like a breath of freash air to me. I fell in love with every aspect of it.
Google search for "flathead V8". It's a great resource, I just wish I could find some flathead hot rodders around my area. I know some very good restoration people, but they're not hot rodders and they don't cotton to hot rodding old stockers,so there's little or no help there. Anyway it's great here, and I know it's just a matter of time til I find some local kindred spirits.
Came across it while scouring the web for old car and rod info. Many things would be incomplete without this site. Deluxe
