Where I did some growing up in Texas Osage Orange was also called Bodark (Bois d'Arc). Most of the fence posts on our places were Bodark. I loved them because we rarely had to replace even though most were very old. I hated them because I couldn't drive a staple in them unless I found a crack. Bodark would be a good handle for a tough guy. Bodark Baxter from Borger.

Well, I had two Coupe Devilles until I sold one a earlier this year to search for and acquire my Merc. I use a different moniker on other forums, but the type of car is frowned upon here LOL.......So 2Devilles it is.

Never heard the Bodark name before; normally names inappropriate for mixed company. And yes, the wood is nigh undestructable!

With the wood screws available today, they would make great fence posts. However, trying to drive a nail into one is an exercise in futility.

There are those that will tell you the fruit may be placed in places where cockroaches roam, then the cockroaches will leave. It doesn't work. Maybe Missouri cockroaches are insufficiently educated to read on the internet that they are not supposed to like the Osage oranges; or maybe they don't have internet access.

It's self-explanatory. My name is Andrew, and I live in the city.

  6. I thought I should explain why HOTRODPRIMER is capitalized, it's not that my fellow Tri-City Rod & Custom club member used capitals when he made the sign he posted on my truck but my complete lack of knowledge when it comes to computers, I had recently purchased a computer for our twin daughters as to follow the recommendations of there high school teachers.

The girls have always known my passion for hot rods and were raised in the backseat of Model A;s and 40 Ford sedans, they summonsed me to look at the images from Bonneville Salt Flats and I started to take interest in computers and ny pure luck I ran across the Hamb while looking at cars.

I decided to join the Hamb and register after lurking for a few months and with Deuce Roadster (Randy Nash) encouragement, the intro was met with the typical reply's for the time, my biggest screw up was my entire introduction was capitalized including my username, HOTRODPRIMER.

  7. Danny, before I joined the HAMB, I didn’t even know what a user name or avatar was. The only thing I knew about computers was how to diagnose Engine warning lights on medium and heavy duty trucks with our laptop. I didn’t even have email until in 2012 I had to have it to register for Navistar training classes when we became a Navistar International Associate Dealership. The only thing computers were good for (for me) was to look at cars and parts.

  8. Bodark also makes great long bows. My dad made one around the time I was born and was quite an archer with it.

    Story behind my user name:
Back in the early 1950s thru the mid 1960s, my dad built and owned stock cars, Nydam Bros. Auto Rebuilders #99 and raced at Raceway Park in Blue Island IL.
One of his long time drivers was Ray Young, who was a Midwestern champ.
In later years, painted on the back of his late models, in rolling letters was Just Passin Thru.
In kind of a tribute to him, it has been painted on the back of my OT Elcamino for the last 49 years.
Sadly, my dad passed away many years ago and Ray passed away a few years ago also. They won't be forgotten.

I’ve raced a pre-war Austin too. It has a blower but only 750cc, so probably a little slower. I used to go past the Austin factory every day on the way to work. They’ve pulled it all down now.

I was hoping it was your car, but I wouldn't have said anything just in case.

Half of my family comes from Italy and the other half from Croatia, between the two countries is the Adriatic Sea. I’m a machinist so I just stacked them up.

It's my 1951 Studebaker Champion 4 door sedan that I bought in 1993. I can't post photos of it here because it has off topic wheels and rear view mirrors.

  26. 1- I've owned more stick-shift cars than any others.
    2- I have a hobby/business making custom shift knobs.
3- People who see me shift are amazed at how smooth and fast I shift. I often amaze myself. It's that spooky.

I had a Sunbeam Tiger when I joined, which I guess could be HAMB friendly. You can see it and its engine in my avatar. Coincidentally, I now have another Ford 260 for my Model A roadster.
