    That altered looks like it has a factory fuel injection unit.

    I believe that was made by orner motive completely aftermarket there is a thread here on the hamb about it

    The Orner-Motive injector used the Rochester manifold base but the risers and injector hat were the Orner brothers own design. The risers were bolted to the manifold and also the hat IIRC.
    The big difference was how the Orner controlled the flow of fuel off idle. Hilborn and Enderle for example used a barrel valve while the Orner brothers used a vacuum canister to somehow control volume. I believe that was their downfall.

  19. Wonder where this could be at........there's a 4 door early Chevy with what I think is those wheels sitting in a wrecking yard here in Texas....

    Hello,

    We were always amazed every time we saw the gold Dragmaster team show up at Lion’s Dragstrip in late 58-60 early drag racing days. They were the neatest team around. Everything was gold and their cars were always show quality prepared. Where were they from was a strange one for us. Carlsbad, some dinky town down the coast from Lion’s Dragstrip.

    Back then, the highway 1 drive up/down the coast was about 2 hours each way. By the time the I-5 freeway was completed to San Diego, it only took about an hour each way. So, that was a lot of driving every Saturday and Sunday. But, those hard core drag racers went where the best competition was and competed against the top racers weekly.

    Here is a compilation of drag racing films of the gold Dragmaster SBC racer from 1958 to 1960. There were some variations of the chassis and motors, but in one section, the “World’s Fastest Chevy Powered Drag Racer” was none other than ted cyr from nearby Escondido, San Diego county (Inland Carlsbad region) making the same route.

    The new challenge was a Potvin styled 671 in front of an SBC motor, in a lighter, Dragmaster frame. Instantly, it became known as the “Worlds Fastest Chevy.”

    Note:

    I was fortunate to have taken the original films from my “secret location” in the summer of 1959. Little did I know at the time that sitting in my office was an LP album with the Martin-Nelson Dragmaster "sound" coming from September 1959. All the way across the USA from Detroit. So, with digital imagery and editing, here is the original film from the Summer of 1959 and the "Original Sound" from September 1959 together.
