Millwinders at Paradise Mesa, Ike Iacano's GMC-powered coupe in the background. The Millwinders usually ran Jack Ewell's fuel Ardun, and Jack usually drove.
This is where one usually found the Millwinders, racing the Drifters. The Drifters ran a blown flathead, the Millwinders an Ardun...they pretty much split the races between them. From Hot Rod, October 1954. Jack Ewell's Ardun in the Millwinder's coupe. He invested heavily in injector stacks ---Jack also ran this Ardun in his dragster. When he found out I was running an Ardun, he gave me all his old Ardun plugs and told me how to set up the ignition.
I dare one of you guys with meelion dollar Arduns to run injection with stacks like that! It's traditional!
Under PLAQUE PATTERNS on this page of my website is info about their plaque that was provided by Nes Synadinos ... https://carclubplaques.pairsite.com/OtherStuff/06-History.htm
Just now connecting that the Millwinders 35 Coupe was the same Safeway Sandblasting (James) coupe that I use to see at the end of my block in the early/mid 50's. All of James equipment was white w/ red lettering. I remember riding my bike down to a gas station on Venice Blvd and hearing the Safeway coupe running. It was a long time ago, remember as a blown flathead w/ 4 carbs. James later of course went to Arduns in the Willys ch***is and a Comp Coupe. He also later traded his services for the Ruddy/Weinstein 27 Bonneville roadster (which had been Ardun powered).
