-1” section from cowl plus the 1.5” lip from before, I f’n LOVE it.

Moved the dimple up because the body sits at a slight angle and it’ll help clear the cap. the new firewall is 1/2” plywood that’ll be laminated with 1/4” aluminum plate which I’ll be able to block sand and polish and it won’t be so fragile.

I have a plan I’m hoping works out…I’m going to cut the hole out and the router the opening with a radius and mount the dimple to the back side so I can keep the aluminum flat and polish it like a mirror.

a couple updates-
I got the cowl lip welded back in and it's permanent! I love the bobbed cowl so much-

I sectioned the top lip that rises about 3/4 to an inch above the cowl to where it's almost flat and the chopped windshield frame sits right on top of the cowl, looks so much cleaner.

 

Great work on your cowl mods Tuck! Better to see you're back on your roadster too!

Angie and I went to Maple Lake and PANTOWNERS and I ended up with a nice roadster body for CHEAP and a nice 29 top... all the best parts are going into the roadster. The guy who had it has been caretaking this body for over 40 years... the deuce ch***is he built for it got stolen so he gave up and sold it. Grateful to have it... it's like a shot in the arm.

I made board sides out of oak for the truck- worked out great because we came home heavy. It was great seeing all the dudes like Grant, Bryan Barts's Brian and Brian B, Moriarity, Schliker, Schwag etc... to name a few...

Next day I ended up with a Shriner Kart "tin lizzy" that actually runs. Can't wait to clean it up.

Looks so good man!

I missed that your firewall aluminum is so thick, how did you go about cutting it to shape? I know aluminum being so soft gums up a lot of blades.

 

used a hand held Jig Saw- works great.

update:
Tig welded the recess for the mag and finished cutting out the new 1/4" thick firewall. This is laminated to wood and bolted to the inner lip. I'll sand it out flat and polish it. This one should be a little stronger.

I use Contact cement, i bought a gallon of it. You brush it on and you wait until its tacky dry and then put them together and then they wont come apart... trust me

I don't pay him enough haha... thanks dude. Hopefully some more progress here soon.

I think I want to make some rear molded fenders that either flare out from the quarter or are completely molded all the way to the top line, the rear wheel lines up with the shape of the rear of the quarter... so maybe like the black one with brown background... either that or more race inspired like the 404 roadster...
