Looking to help my brother-in-law track down his former '34 Ford coupe. I know it's a way-long shot. Like, an "in-space-on-the-way-to-Mars" long shot. But I'll give it a try. Back in the 1980s, my brother-in-law built this '34 Ford 5w coupe, sold it about 10 years later. Here's what we know: It went through a couple of hands here in Minnesota, then wound up being traded to a Cadillac dealership in the Twin Cities. Last we knew, the Cadillac dealer in Minnesota sold it to someone in California but we have no idea where in the state it landed. Had the normal 350 Chev and 350 Turbo trans but did have some distinguishing features. Chopped top (he can't remember exactly how much), filled roof, Porsche red paint, original frame, dropped I-beam front and somewhat unusual parallel leaf rear suspension with Chevy Nova rear. The construction photo shows the modified firewall. Interior was gray velour. Had a trailer hitch too. It wore a couple different sets of O/T wheels, the Cragar Pro-Tecs were on it when it was sold. If any of you CA folks might possibly know anything about this car's past or present whereabouts, I'd sure appreciate hearing from you. Thanks for wading through all this and have a great day! EDIT: I now have some new photos - slide copies - added to this thread. Scroll down! (Mods: If this needs to be in a different spot or deleted altogether I'm okay with that. Do what you gotta do!)
This guy found his truck from 30 years ago, using a "Lost muscle car"Facebook group...may help. UNBELIEVABLE REUNION: Owner Finds First Ride After 30 YEARS! (youtube.com)
Thanks guys for the bumps! I've seen that group and you're right, it might be worth a try. Thanks. I hope so too. Although I'm keeping my expectations sorta low, there's always that chance... !
@TerrytheK that looks a lot like one a friend of mine had. Was on line for sale and my friend flew to California, bought it, and had it shipped back. It had a small blower on it, otherwise looks the same. I will get back with you soon
Hahaha.... yeh, those red '34 Ford street rods all look alike!! I told him not to get his hopes up and he's not. Neither am I - like the thread ***le says: "Needle in a haystack"!
I'll post this one up one more time. Because you just never know... Built in MN early 1980s, sold in the late '90s - see my first post for details. Last we knew it went to someone in CA. I've dug up a couple of shots taken after it was completed, somewhere around 1984-85. There are also some detail shots taken when it was being built. As I mentioned, it's a super-extreme long shot but if any of you might have info on the possible current whereabouts of the car it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! As you'll note, the rear suspension is somewhat atypical - parallel leaf. I believe it was a Posies setup??
