Just throwing this out there. Is there any reason someone couldn’t replace the wooden toe board with 3/4 “ pvc sheet stock? It sure as hell won’t rot
I Believe that may be true. Wood is easier to work with, as far as rot,, 80 years from now... who cares?
I learned that as well.. I dragged home a ‘48 sedan delivery, rear door frame was wood.. OP id use wood for toe board, unless shape complex then use tin
I didn’t know that they had wooden toe boards ? There is some great quality marine ply these days that you can coat with top quality yacht varnish and the like. Should last long enough to p*** that ol hotrod over to the grand kids
Use the wood and spray or apply to the underside undercoating....my avatar had wood floors and I made new ones out of plywood....
I used 1/8" steel sheet for toe boards in my '40. The main reason was to minimize floor thickness, allowing increased clutch and brake pedal travel with non-stock clutch linkage and master cylinder.
I just bought new toe boards for my 40 ford coupe from Fordwoodart.com nice pieces just paint and install fit like a charm.
but it might melt…………… PVC would be less resistant to heat and fire than steel or wood. probably be the main reason why nobody uses it. .
