I used that when I started, ran out, and bought the more expensive that did nothing...

I'd put it on thick and leave it on overnight. when it dried I'd brush more on. Then scrape it with a putty knife next day. Took a couple tries. I think 8oz of navel jelly gel was the same price as 32oz of rustoleum gel. Messed around with citric acid and towels before, which worked ok but made a huge mess.

Oh and saran wrap over the top kept the stuff from running and drying out.

i went to harbor freight and bought one.... here my take..... worthless.... too heavy, gets the metal too hot. oil cans the big side panels, hood and trunk... never got to the roof...4 hours ant got half the quarter panel done... the wheel they have is a big clean strip ugly wheel , may be I'm doing something wrong, cause it sure struggles to remove the paint,... maybe toofast or too slow???? i tried every speed

Here is a video of a guy demonstrating one. I bought the Eastwood because I think its design is balanced a little better than some of the competitors at the time I bought it. Some of them look like a modification of an angle grinder with the roller not centered to the body. Seems like it would be awkward and not balanced for use. The Bauer/HF is centered like my Eastwood. The HF is less expensive and a decent tool for the cost. If you are getting oil canning or panel heating then lighter pressure and moving around more should help. You can see from the video that the tool does a pretty good job on rusty parts, so I don't know why you are having a problem. Skip to about the 13 minute mark as the first 12 minutes don't provide much beyond opening the box and a little comparison info. Actually using the tool starts around the 13 minute mark.

I like the one I have, so I hope you get it working better for you.:)

The problem is not the product, but your application methodology. It has to be submerged or have continuous flow via a pump - (that's why I mentioned a Home Depot pond pump, in my post above). You cannot let it dry, or it's a fail. the stuff literally works wonders.

agreed, but I don't have anything to put the 58 in but our pool...but like said, i was looking for a spray on rinse off rust remover.... but I did get it done... and it's painted black simi gloss now... and pretty safe bet that I will never do that again...

I've heard about this stuff. Haven't had a need to try it yet but I definitely will if/when the time comes. This looks like a really good result.

I followed up with this stuff on the bare metal with steel wool. Good price and I think Home Depot carries it. Good stuff if you don't get to spraying primer right away. Never had any surface rust form.

Be careful if you are doing this on a car that has thinner sheet metal (like a 60's muscle car). The generated heat can warp panels.

That be a dream to have a product you spray on and leave you with bare clean metal..like the spray on tire shine stuff
I have always sandblasted my projects…5 bags to do the sedan delivery,,inside, outside and underneath…I recover the sand continuously until its dust..sandblasting done in a portable garage with poly on the floor
I dont want to have to sandblast my current and likely final project…but i like a really clean base IMG_2679.jpeg

I'd say if you had good luck blasting I'd stick with that. Probably quicker and less messy.
