Good luck on your travels. Hope to see you at stop #2. MO-KAN is a great little drag strip that looks like you traveled back to the 60’s. I followed Plan II’s build closely while building my 62 Nova Gasser. I just didn’t have the nerve to alter the wheelbase.

We have a celebrity in our midst!

Welcome to Springfield, the biggest small town in the world. If you have not done so already, try some Cashew Chicken. It was created here. https://www.leongsasiandiner.com/ is the traditional choice, but I prefer Canton Inn.

I was planning to attend tomorrow, but we have committed ourselves to the Gathering at the Roc instead, so I and the lovely wife are off to Bartlesville at daylight. Good luck with the event!

I left the slicks at home, so I'll be running at the end every day, in group E.

177 cars made it to the start.

  10. I'm thinking about running to Amarillo on tuesday. I haven't been there since a division points meet I think in 1994 where I ran 6:40 @210 mph in an alky dragster. I know it's not the same but I'd like to see what's going on. :)

  11. you ever get stop'd for too much stuff on yer windshield?...just curious.

So I understand that they weren’t going to allow anyone that wasn’t registered and just showed up. But did they allow any from the wait list when people didn’t show up?

I don't know. There were 177 cars out of the 250 that were signed up.

about half as big of field as they get on Drag Week

I doubt if they even bothered to notify anyone on the waitlist. I almost had it together enough to try and make it. The engine not fitting was the downfall. Mocked it up with a rebuilder and didn’t realize how long the blower drive made it. I’ll find.a way to get it sorted out and make it to one of these. Thanks for taking us along for the journey. One of these days I’ll have to find out how you got your wife to not only let you go, but went with you. If she decides she needs her own car for these events, I will be officially jealous. Stay safe.

    Well, you tried!

Raced at MoKan today. Went faster, which was neat.

Welcome back to Oklahoma! I have only been to that drive in once on the Hot Rod power tour, but thankfully we have one that is still functional in my town as well.

Made it to Amarillo. Waiting for them to call the street tire cars to the staging lane.

    Looking at this 57 wagon.

It has a 3-71 blower on the 350. He said it used to make some boost when he had a 307.

Maybe I missed it but how is the oil consumption since you put the stock stuff back on your car?

Talked with Kevin more at the Blu Swallow last night.

We had some car adventures today. There's been a bearing sound the whole trip, but today it changed. So I decided to do something about it. I've replaced rear wheel bearings a few times on this car, the pass side just got a new old stock bearing before we left. Left side was an old used bearing with a new seal I put in a while ago. It was leaking some gear oil. I brought another NORS bearing with me. Today in Santa Fe I found a shop that could press it, pulled the axle in their parking lot, and got it done.
    PXL_20241016_175346925.jpg

Then the car was running worse and worse. At the Los Alamos check point, I looked at the points, and they were not opening. I had worked on them this summer, probably 4k miles ago. So we got some new parts, but I ended up using another nos set I had brought with me, and a new condenser. The work points were ACCEL.

The dwell meter says 31, good enough.

We got a ride to dinner in the A. Fun! And Larry will be at the first checkpoint tomorrow, the Lewis museum in Moriarty.
