I collect a lot of wheels, mostly on topic stuff but some off topic as well, I'm not much of a fan of any new wheel except the M/T drag series The Pro-5 And the M/T e.t. drag I like wheels I grew up around too which were Centerline auto drags and the Cragar super trick, preferring the trick but my most favorite out of that style is the Super Slot
Did they? Not sure if these are the ones you are talking about.... https://www.summitracing.com/itemgroup/center-line-auto-drag-2-0-brushed-wheels
Motor wheel Spyders are a fave of mine. They're rare. I had a single for shop art, but sold it. Not long ago, I had a conversation with a HAMBer I talk to from time to time. He pointed out that just about any picture with a female in it gets some kind of junior high comments. Dudes, please be cool. Thanks!
This customer brought a set of wheels for his shoebox, not sure what to think, but the car is going black, might be flashy
Rocket "Strike" wheel. I have them on my 52 GMC. They're discontinued now since Holley bought out Rocket Wheels.
I have always wanted a set of Motorwheel Flys but never found any rears with the right off set for my Nova. Ended up buying these Bogart Drag-On Stars
I wouldn't say my favourite, exactly, but two of these BBSs have come a long way with me. They were on the first of my series of Golf Mk1s when I got it. Then they were on my BMW 2002, fwd-style offset notwithstanding. Then two got damaged hitting a kerb at speed in Durban. The surviving pair are sitting on a shelf here because what do you do with only two really very good German forged alloy 6Jx13" wheels? All I can think of is a weird sidecar outfit of some kind, and although I love the weird stuff I have no intention of building one.
I'm currently in search for wheels for my project. I'm trying to find something that fits late HAMB to early 70s vibe. It's hard with the budget I've got. The used market is pretty dry due to the requirements which are 5x4.75, must fit a disc in front and be staggered 15x4 to 5 in front, 15x7 or 8 in back. Tires too. Oh, and I want light as I can afford. The TQ are the best bang for the buck at under 150, I like them, but they seem to be the de facto wheel these days. The US mag slots are in there, but getting toward 200 a corner. ET makes a few I like, but start at 250 a corner. Cragars are about 250-300, but are as heavy as steel wheels. Team III and ET have a couple in 300 plus, but are just a dream. All of these are without stems and nuts. Holley is throwing away another brand. Halibrand wheels are all Chevy truck 5x5 PCD, 18 or 20 inch, on clearance, sales final. I'd go with them, but don't like the rubber band look/limited tire section of the bigger tires and width for the front, not to mention the bolt pattern. https://www.holley.com/brands/halibrand/products/wheels/wheels/vintage/
Once again, diversity has risen to the top. If everything was the same , where would we be? As a observation from an old guy, in the 60's, the poorer guys had gray spoke mags. The next step up was Cragar SS's. In today's world, the gray 5 spoke still has a place while the SS's have a diminished presence. I love the fact that for many of us, there is no right or wrong, only what we like.
I could never pick a favorite, but I always liked these Weld P9s. Lucked into a near mint set of 8s and 10s.
Have you looked at US Wheel Super Spoke? (Series 462). It's a Cragar S/S copy. Unfortunately, and despite this image, they went with the more recent Cragar style of flatter spokes. Still a very nice wheel. I have them. Cragar cap does not fit directly...
These are OT by HAMB standards, but about as new as I go. I have always pictured them on my ‘32 pickup project.
