I'm getting sick of the doors on the g***er not latching shut, the stock door locks are there but both of them won't hold shut...it's the rotary wheel style locks and I know NOTHING about them, is there a trick to getting them working or replacements sold anywhere? I'd hate to go through the trouble of fabbing in some bear claw latches if the stock ones are rebuildable or replacable...and I'm also in dire need of a p***enger side trunk hinge, mine was frozen solid and broke apart when I bought it...I've been thinking of making my own replacement for the trunk hinge bracket that broke off, but that would take a lot more time than finding NOS, used, or reproduction parts...anyone got any sources for '40-'41 Plymouth/Dodge/Chrysler door locks or trunk hinges? Here's a list of parts I need to find, hopefully someone here has a source for those parts, has those parts laying around, or knows someone who might...

Door locks (replacements or rebuild kits if there are any)
    Trunk hinge
    Body trim clips
Turn signal gl*** (the little gl*** pieces above the headlights, I need both)
Trunk lock (I've got the handle ***embly, but for some reason it won't lock)
Rear Fenders (either '40-'41 or '46-'48, steel or fibergl***, new or used)

If you get desporate PM me and I will send you a pic. I take a pick of the trunk hinge this week. I will also take a pic of how I keep my trunk from falling on my head.

Also last time I checked, which was a while back, PLYDO did not have much for the 40 Plymouth.

    Hey Johnny,

Did you try Robert's Motor Parts? I can't remember if they had much like that but I'd get a hold of them. I haven't been on it ina while but they have a decent website.

I have the Roberts catalog...and I checked the website...Yankey, I'd be VERY happy if that just happened to be the p***enger side trunk hinge...and I'd be very interested in seeing pics of the drivers side fender (although my p***enger side fender is by far worse, both ultimately should be replaced just to save some time)...

I've seen all of the parts you mentioned here on ebay recently. Those turn signal lenses are pretty steep.

I haven't even seen the turn signal lenses on ebay...I'll have to do some searching...that trunk hinge is a definite must have part

  9. Junk those latches get you some bear claws. Is an easy install I put them in my 47 plymouth was the best thing I ever did .I had three plymouth an could never get any of the stock latches to work right . Now all I hear is a nice click an not a cha bam from slamming the doors. In 47 the trunk was spring loaded to hold up trunk lid. Will keep an eye out for 40 ply stuff for you I like the 40 ply too.

Ok here it is. The little hooking latch thing still moves . I guess its suppose to hold up the trunk. I never trusted it. I used gas struts.

Is this what you are looking for?

Let me know where you find body clips.

does it look like there's an angle to them, like one mounts on one side or the other? I'll take a peek at mine when I go out to the shop in a few minutes...I'm hoping that's for the p***enger side...any chance you could check it up against the p***enger side one in your car and see if they match?

I've got a pair of those from my old Stratus trunk, and another pair I'm swiping off of my Reliant wagon...I was thinking of doing the exact same thing...I just wish they had enough strength to work on the flip front-end of the g***er...

no problem man, I'm not on a tight schedule...besides, I'm pretty busy myself fabbing up a master cylinder mount plate and front/rear suspension...adding a '67 Valiant dual master cylinder to the '40, and putting in the '46 Dodge pickup straight axle up front, along with the '62 Pontiac posi rearend out back...busy busy busy...
