Technical What are you working on?

I like em tight. But this isn’t one of those moments.

 

Lumpy, when we first mocked it up, there was absolutely no way the manifold was going to clear the steering box. With the manifold on it, the engine was pushed approximately 1-1/2-2” to the right. I pulled the manifold off, centered and leveled the engine and will use either the POL or Speedway kit to use a Square Body C-10 power steering box on the outside of the frame.

Threw the bedside and fender on to check the stance. It has a 3" drop axle in front with new stock height springs and so far I've removed 2 leafs from each rear pack. I think the rear needs to come down 2 more inches.

just finished painting the centers two weeks ago. I went and had tires installed on Saturday.. Sunday slapped them on !

3 weeks in on my street stripper, got the new winshield......sanded the bumpers , painted them to preserve them till I find a chrome shop.... looks like they are all gone...mexico???started cleaning under the hood....took a week off and went to utah... so all in it's 2 weeks

 

I've been doing my own fiberglass work as of late, trying to make a silk purse out of a pig's ear with this damn truck hood.
So far I think it's winning, two afternoons and I still can't get the grill to fit this oversized hood but I'm literally whittling away at it.

I added a flange to bolt the grill to but the hood is so wide I've actually resorted to carving out a space for the grill to sit in.

It’s been pretty stressful these last couple of years, literally had nowhere to work on anything and all my gear, and I mean, all my gear has been in storage.
It has been like living a different life really, soon be back on it though. You don’t realise what you do until you can’t do it.

I know we've talked about the aluminum double hump heads here before, I just ran across Chris Birdsong's latest video and he had bought Speedway's version and the valve broke with only 400 miles on them.
So be careful

 

What is going on with the cylinder next to it and why is the block cracked, did the broken valve crack the block?

 

It is kind of a no no to put 2.02s on a 283 ....I am wondering if the valve hit the piston due to the tiny valve reliefs and maybe it saw a little too much RPM?

 

Nice bright sunny fall morning. Heading off to prep my 1931 Plymouth PA Business Coupe I just purchased so I'm sure it's ready to go when I take the trailer down there in a few days to haul it home. It doesn't have a front axle. So I'm taking an axle from a 1964 Ford truck and I'll u-bolt it to the leaf springs on the Plymouth.
At least, that's the plan.

I have to do yet another oil change on the Corvette, and I'm also going to pack front wheel bearings, and "flip" the front tires because of some uneven wear that could probably be prevented with a real front end alignment (and probably some parts replacement). But with over 20k on the clock since I got the car, and it's still driving, I'm happy

We made a transmission crossmember for Papaw. The one I bought from EBay was advertised as being for an AD truck. Nope, didn’t fit for shit. With lots of encouragement from my friends, Lloyd and Lumpy, we made one that will work. It’s not the prettiest thing, but I think it will work. I also taught Little(?) Truckdoctor how to weld. He did damn fine for his first job.

 

I got paint on the engine and the pan installed.

 

Recieved all my vintage and NOS ball joints , bushings and shafts for the Tempest today.
