Did you guys happen to catch the concept drawings for the chopped and sectioned late 50's suburban that appeared in Garage #11? That was pretty nifty. Don't know if they're gonna build it or not.

Well, technically mine is a '48....but they made that same style of truck up through '63 I believe.

Now what other '60s truck can you run fenderless??? :D None.

Seriously, I know my truck looks like ass. I'm going for that bohemian look....kinda like Von Dutch's Kenford. Yeah thats the ticket....thats what I'm doing. :D

Seriously, I think that a 50's truck...say, Chevy or Ford....can look good fenderless....However it NEEDS a lot of work to pull of right.

I'm thinking like if its made into a "custom" hot rod. There was a guy on here building one that was cool. I think his name was DOLLARBILL or something. His project was over the top...and he was pulling it off well.

A project like this is a tricky thing. Any Joe Blow can take the fenders off of a '20s or '30s truck and BAM! he's got a hot rod. It takes a lot of balls and talent to pull off a fenderless '40s and 50's truck. Talent meaning you gotta know where to put things. You have to have an eye for proportions and what not.

My truck is close to looking cool. I worked real hard at getting the proportions "right". In my mind, they are about as good as I can get them....the success of the build will now hinge on the details. How well I make everything work together. I gotta lose the Cragars....I gotta smooth things out....I gotta pick the right tires....I gott build a presentable bed....etc etc.

Its a lot harder to get a later model truck looking "right".

But in my opinion, it can be done.

I'll never do another one though.
Its too much work and too little pay off.

    The end.

  4. How about a pic of the '48?

Sometimes different is good... sometimes different is bad

  9. I think the pork chop truck would be cool if it was a little less "Rat Rod". Some don't like the stretched front ends, but I think they are
reminiscent of the Anglia "Altered" drag cars.

This is a 48 chevy body sitting on a 89 olds chassis and drive train, has power steering , power brakes , ac , rides smooth as hell.

in this photo the bed is still stock,

I am currently rebuilding the bed and making a grill since I crunched my cattle gaurd while taking a junked car to the scrap yard, I'll post some pics when its done.
