I do have my brother's first car now that I built for him before he was 16. Does that count?

Bought a non running '37 chevy sedan at15 years old, worked on it a it around our yard but never on the road. Had taken it apart to rebuild, lost interest as a Model A came along sold one to buy the other, traded the Model A for a 41 Ford Pickup never drove any of these on the road but it all eventually got me to driving a 40 Ford of some sort. I have a Coupe that i currently drive and a 40 sedan (avatar)

I bought my 62 Impala in 1998 for 7000 Deutsche Mark, it was a 1 owner, 16k original miles car back than. I still have it, it still rides like a dream. First pic is around 2002 on a vacation in Italy , I was still skinny back then

I've had this car (although not my first car but my first hot rod car) since 1973. The last paint and trim job was in 1983.The little girl in the primed version is now 57 and the little boy is now 45. For what it is worth, neither have any interest in my hobby. Note...that is my dad's fence stretcher holding the front of the body up to roll the frame under it. In the Army we called that a "field expedient solution":) 38 body drop_0001.jpg 38 Chevy_1975.jpg 38 x_0001.jpg 1983Chad.jpg IMG_0879.JPG

Great Story, looking forward to seeing you finishing all these cars but if your retirement turns out anything like mine you'll still be trying to find time to get them done!:)

I still have my first car, 1970 'Cuda, bought in 1987 when I was 20, was in boxes and torn apart, drove it primered for 18 years, finally painted in 2006. In the process of building a 1938 Dodge truck now.. 20220731_192921.jpg

Sort of??? I had a “farm car” to learn how to drive in but it was really still my dad’s car (53 Dodge Coronet with a 241 hemi). My first “actual” car was my 51 Pontiac since 1973. IMG_2454.jpeg IMG_1368.jpeg IMG_1582.jpeg IMG_3464.jpeg

  14. Yes ... I still have the first car I "drove":

The HEMI32 Coupe circa 1963 (with me age 2 'driving').jpg
Me (age 2) "driving" the HEMI32 Coupe
    . . . as well as the first running/driving* car I owned:

    Alfa and Coupe (@ 1st GG's Get Together - March 27, 1983).jpg
My 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider (with the HEMI32 Coupe)

    * NOTE: Before purchasing my Alfa (from my aunt who purchased it new in '62), I "started" building a '29
Roadster on Deuce rails . . . an unfinished project car that I ended up selling in the early '90s.
. . . to this day, both of these cars remain parked next to each other in my garage

  15. My first car is my 41' Ford convertible I bought after high school in 1962 which I still have. Bought it from Ron Fletcher of New Haven (Fort Wayne) Indiana for $295.00. Already a custom with candy red paint, white top, black and white tuck and roll interior. Under the hood was a 48' Ford flathead with a 39' ford trans. Car has gone through many changes with five different engine/trans set ups, several different paint jobs and a 3 1/2" chop. The car is now Cadillac black cherry and has a 55' Olds 324" V8 w/ Ford toploader four speed transmission. 41 Ford 1962.jpg 41 Ford 1962.jpg IMG_0816_2.JPG

I do, I've had it since age 12 in 1992. I can't post it though, it's been deleted before as it's a Ford and starts with an "M":D:D

My first car I drove when I got my "official" license in 1974. I saved it from being crushed at a wrecking yard in the fall of 73, paid $45.00 for it the amount it would have brought crushed. 48 Tudo with 52 Merc, Navaro tripple intake, with one carb, the others were blocked off, Fenton Heads, dual exhaust with Thrush mufflers, When my dad and I got it back to his shop, one of his guys asked where did we find his old car? Turned out he had owned in in the mid 60's and the guy he sold it to name was still on the title. We found out the complete history of the car from him, it had been bought new by one of my dads cousins that had recently passed away. With the guy we found bungs he had welded to the tailpipes for flame throwers, that he had "rigged up" a couple of new sets of lowering shackles, and a set of gears that had went to a quick change the car had at one time. My dad had the local Lincoln Mercury dealer rebuild the Merc Flattie, he and I painted it, rebuilt the brakes converted it to 12 volt, and I drove the wheels off of it for a couple of years.
The first picture is when we first got it home in 74. the second is sometime in the early spring of 75, Ford red with a White vinyl top (Vinyl was covering some issues, I know bad choice, been corrected now),, my dad and I traded it back and forth over the years but neither never sold it. The third picture is in 90 I rebuilt it and gave it to my dad for Christmas, he and my mom enjoyed it until he passed unexpectedly in 99. It sat at my moms for a couple of years then she asked me if I was ever going to come get my car cause she was tired of people bothering her about it. My brother and sister both agreed that it was my car. Fourth pic, I am now doing a full frame off, just had a local rod shop replace all rockers and trunk floor and quarters. putting a T5 with a S-10 rear axle, keeping the 52 Merc Flattie and going in a mild 50's custom direction with it now.
