Up to finishing the pedal layout, AV8 model A frame.

39 motor and toploader RHD , using model A pedals hanging off the right side of the gearbox using a piece of angle attached to the 3 gearbox case top plate bolts .

Would like ideas and pics of how others have made the pedal shaft secure back to the gearbox and /or bellhousing so the pedals can operate in a similar fashion to a stock model A , ie, not anchored to the chassis at all.

Note.. this is RHD, so the starter is right in front of the pedals.

Is there such a thing as a right hand drive '39 pedals in Australia? If so, that would be a drop dead easy solution.

Do not 39 pedals attach to the chassis?

Yes, you're right they do but if you changed your plan those pedals make for easy application with your transmission.

I think a piece of angle iron will be too flexible and apt to come loose no matter what you do to it. If you must mount the pedals on the gearbox ,consider welding a shaft collar to the 39 gearbox housing, to take a Model A pedal shaft. You will probably have to machine one up , wider than you can buy from an engineers supplies , so that you can shape it to fit the side of the gearbox/bellhousing. Careful welding with a Tig and correct filler rod , pre heating , and with short welds and cooling between tacks should be OK as far as distortion goes. I have seen broken boxes welded with no apparent issues .
In saying all that I wonder why you don't just use a V8 pedal box and pedals...either 39 for a angled mount or an F1 pedalbox for a straight x member.

Clings Aftermarket makes the bracket you are looking for, although I am not sure he makes it for RHD

2E3AB32B-84D5-4157-8B10-A194B07038E7.jpeg To buy it from Clings would sure be easy, but here's what I did for A pedals on a v8 trans...

Take a big plate of steel, drill a hole for the input shaft to stick thru then put a model A trans on the plate. drill out a couple of the mounting bolt hole just to locate it.
Now, weld up some iron with a couple rings on the A pedal shaft, noting the clocking of the holes for the pedal stops.
Now, remove the A tranny and stick a v8 tranny on the plate, slide a 1" shaft in the rings you welded to the plate, drill holes for pedal stops and weld the shaft to the mount you have already made on the v8 trans.

Clear as mud? I may have a pic, I'll look

Well, there it is but I see no hole for the input shaft, I must have had empty cases. But the hole would be easier to locate center.

So, what's the problem with an old thread? The information provided is relevant, and products are current. The fact that the thread is old, is not important. Some will find the information useful.
