If the word "funkadelic" was a car. Word was Ford was gonna use that front design again...padded...call it the "Ethyl"...
I saw 2 58's over the weekend at the Fitchburg swap meet And got the 58 Villager with a 460 big block swap that im putting together, back on its wheels
I had a chance to buy a '59 a few years ago, the sister car to my Custom 300. But at $8000 I said no. I guess somebody bought it. The '60 was like Ford was throwing a title boxing match... it worked. They took a dive in the 5th round.
I always wonder how many of the cars in this photo survived, and how I'd love to have one of those shop coats!
Bout twenty years ago an older buddy picked up a 59 Edsel four door with a running 352. Back then he jokingly said he wouldn't sell it to me because he thought I'd use it for a parts car(he wasn't wrong lol). Now he says it's not because I'd use it for parts but because I'd build it after using the fe 352 and rear in another car. Happened to mention the main thing that hurts the look is the middle of the grill. ....told him "what if you removed the middle and just continued the outer parts of the grill till they met?". He said I'd never have the car.... though he did appreciate i didn't wanna junk it anymore lol
Dont some Edsels have a narrow 9" same as a 57/59 which are 581/4 flange to flange. Set me straight if im wrong
I feel like that's right. Back story on why I wanted to use said Edsel for parts then was just before my buddy got the 59 a local cop where I lived that I started enemies when I met but somehow became buddies with after he pulled me over doing 95 in a 35(basically how the other acted and responded to the situation impressed the other lol) had offered me a derelict 55 Ford customline he parked in the 80s. I wanted to put the full drivetrain and a full other parts from the Edsel in it lol.
