What are the hinges y’all are referring to? And are standards the same ? I have a box in my garage that had a hinge in it IMG_0307.jpeg IMG_0308.jpeg

Like I said, I have no idea what they are supposed to look like. I am sure if they are for sale and someone knows what they fit they will try to steal them from you ! If someone can confirm please advise. Thanks

I want the say the top left is a hinge I only have one I think, I won’t be using it if you need it lmk. The other is the deck lid support arm.

So many small parts were attached to wood, so when the wood went away........I was so lucky with my '26.

Jay, According to my pictures I found. The link could be correct but hinge I believe is not what I need. Hinge could be different for standard and if the lid was wood framed ? Let me know the cost for the support if you are interested in selling and I may be interested in trying to make it work. Thanks

  6. I believe the standard hinges are different. they would look like the one pictured with a flat plate that would screw flat against the wood frame of the deck lid. the standard hinges have an angled screw surface that attaches to the side and inside face of the steel inner side of deck lid. @MalloMike has photos

I’ve been absent. Had to prepare for a certification test.
I’ll be back in the shop right away. Plenty to do.

Just wanted to add my excitement of installing my hemi and transmission yesterday with my friend Dale here on the HAMB! My brother Scott was watching on, taking some great photos and helping with whatever he could, experiencing a task that he never before witnessed! Enjoy!!!

Thanks brother! I added an inch of these small plates to the top of the leaf springs to lift the front end up a bit from the extra weight of my hemi - about 750 lbs., the way it is seen. Turns out that I may not have needed to add them. I'll see when the body goes back on. Still need to bolt the TC to the flywheel, figure out how to reverse the lower alternator mount from the driver's side to the passenger side, because the Vega box was in the way. Supposedly, this mount can mount the alternator on either side of timing plate. Hoping there won't be any clearance issues from the lower radiator hose. I'll finish up removing 16 years of dirt and dust on the hemi with glass cleaner, then use Meguire's Quik Detailer to bring the shine and glitter back from the Candy Orange Prisma metalflake paint! Anyone recommend what I can use to remove the glue on the paint from the tape covering some of the holes, without botching it up?

Wax and grease remover should get it. Not knowing if it’s single or bc/cc that’d be the safest.

Yeah wax and grease remove or goo gone. Yeah I figure with cross steering having the generator low would be an issue. I wanted to do the same, but had the same issue with the Vega.

    You mean like Purple Power?
Going to try using the same bracket, but flipping it around to the passenger side. Hot Heads sent some instructions today - originally gave my engine builder the alternator and bracket kit, as he was wanted to set it up while assembling the supercharger kit.

them hemi is freakin huge lol. just looking at the pictures again it's a monster. Will you have any issues clearing the firewall ect? or did you handle all that stuff beforehand ?

We did - had to set the hemi as close as possible to the firewall, so the measurement I got from the front surface of the P-Ayr block, adding the crankshaft blower pulley to the radiator is enough space for the electric fan and a few inches to take off the blower belt when needed...
Great stuff, but most likely NOT cheap and too much quantity. Smaller quantity??

While I was detailing the hemi, I placed my new carbs on the Weiand Dual Quad intake for shits and giggles... I would like to remove those Edelbrock logos on the carbs - seems too modern of the current design...

Thanks! Going to just rattle can it black and hopefully you can’t see it on the frame. Adding some inner skin in my deck lid, and then fixing the door gaps.. been looking at doing a satin paint job after since my body work is kinda meh

Nice job with the patch task brother - smoothing over the holes in the cowl looks a lot better than it was. With your bodywork, that area will be smooth as a baby's ass! I've never seen body work tools like this, would you explain their purpose? I have no bodywork experience at all, but I'm willing to give it a try on my own hot rod, with the next home rental and a much larger garage...

Mike I’m pretty sure they are magnets, their purpose is to hold the patch in place with a tight gap with no additional holes or access required.

Tim is correct, just magnets to hold the panel in. I’m adding some inner skin to the deck lid as well. An trying to fix the doors. My doors are pretty beat, well the tops anyway. IMG_0336.jpeg IMG_0323.jpeg IMG_0320.jpeg

On the upside on a chevy when you’re replacing missing wood with metal you can do whatever you want. You aren’t trying to patch and match existing pieces. I always love that aspect of Chevys because everyone takes different routes to solving the same problems.

thanks for continuing to post updates! Love seeing you drive it while working on it.

I've been trying to contact KC Wood Mfg. to get a few wood pieces for a 35 Chevy pickup that I'm building for a customer. So far, no response to voice mails or emails that I've left for them.
Does anyone here know if they're still in business or know of another supplier that could help me out?

That’s the one thing my buddy said that’s in the ford scene “there’s no rules for a Chevy” at first I wanted to leave those holes there. But they’re patched on the firewall anyway. And my hood is too long because of the custom frame so it’s kinda pointless. But that’s always been the goal is to drive it; I don’t have the money/skills to make it a show car and that’s not my thing.
