so does the chop on this forever slap the custom label on this car or are there modifications that can be made to tilt the scale to hot rod?

    20241115_111237.jpg 20241115_112149.jpg

the car has been channeled five inches but also has 2-1/2 inch lowering blocks that can either be removed all together or replaced with a shorter block to give it a rake.
we can lose the spots and scoops behind each wheel and although the lake pipes are functional, lose them too in favor of an under car system, maybe radius the rear wheel openings and go hoodless.
I don't know, what are your thoughts, is it too custom to go back?

Bring it to me! I'd keep it kustom as it should! Do you like 59 Rancheros?

ixnay on the gasser request, I'm not a huge fan of them anyway, but starting off chopped and channelled and then going in the totally opposite direction just not worth it.
the fenders are all welded on so a two inch section is out of the question, or is it?

drive train currently in it is a 291 Desoto hemi backed by a 700r4 and an 8 inch from a granada.
the firedome has a 4 bbl adapted to the 2 bbl intake but i do have this waiting to go on with four nos Elmira 97's

I picked it up in 2001 from the guy who did all the modifications in the early 80's. He built it with a flathead with grancor heads and intake and Saginaw 4 speed. Used to exceed 100 mph regularly on I394 running along side his buddy with a 31 Chevy coupe.
One winter he forgot to drain the straight water he ran as coolant, the block and radiator froze and came apart on him. After 12-15 years, he decided to sell it. I put a new walker raditor, painless wiring harness, rebuilt the brakes, ran new brake and fuel lines, you know, made it reliable. Put my $500.00 firedome in it and have been enjoying it ever since.
Whenever you saw me at the relix riot, I drove it there. The car has always had a confused identity, it doesn't know if it wants to be a hotrod or custom. But it is time to do something with it

story behind the scoops, previous owner clipped it with an early nova, he did all his measurements from a hole on each side but when he went to cut, he used the wrong hole and ended up with a two inch shorter wheelbase. Instead of cutting the frame again, he moved the wheel openings a bit, in the process temporarily having a slit left to weld, he thought it might look good making two more slits, pushing it in to form the scoops. Maybe not one of his better ideas.
anyway, right before the first hunnert car pile up in Decatur, I got tired scraping on every dip in the highway, i contacted squirrel for numbers for a big block nova coil spring and rebuilt front end, it raised the nose up a bit, helping a little but it's still too low.
That's where the idea of going hotrod with it comes from, getting more ground clearance

I went with the exposed engine, just so you have an idea.
I love the flames on Moose's version, and would put those exact ones on this version too if flames were wanted. Well, maybe play with the color a bit. Or not.

Can somebody paint my car. Really bad pic but heres the thing, Im not fan of the green. I have an idea of pearl or flake white where the green is. And please slap on some whitewalls in front with fiesta caps, and cruiser skirts in the back. IMG_3273.jpeg

thanks guys, i guess i have my answer.
it can make a very cool hot rod with minor changes.
    any more ideas?

@Unclebrad can I bother you to remove the spot light and change the wheels to ansen sprints like the moose did?
you know, I used to run without a hood when I first put it on the road 20 some years ago, and I just so happen to have a set of slots

Since you didn't specify any other colors, I used one of my 1950s favorites, 1957 Lincoln coral
    (or something close).

I would like to un street rod this car a bit. It has bright aluminum TT on it now. I tried to p-shop the wheels I would like to have on the car (very poorly I might add) but I don't care for the black wheels on a yellow car. Looks cheesy to me. Can someone make the wheels gray or another color to compliment the car in a hot rod style? Thank you.

Here is how the car looks currently.
