    Hello,

Convertibles are favored by women than most men. If one sees a 20 something girl/woman driving in a top down convertible, then the “So Cal convertible look for all folks,” has been satisfied. Sun tan, well yes and also messy long hair or even sunburned shiny top men make do with convertible driving anywhere. Bandanas or hats pulled down to keep the hair inside is usually the end result. Ha! So much for tall palm trees and the said girl, flashing by, with her hair flowing in the wind… in the top down convertible. Especially one with custom touches.

We were almost owners of a 56 Ford two door post sedan with a built up Flathead motor and cool upholstery to go along with a shiny black paint job. When I drove the black 56 sedan, it had power with the Flathead, but not as much as my 58 Impala. Our close friend in Los Angeles thought that my brother would like a different approach to hot rodding and this one was pristine. It even had Bonneville history in its lineage.

In my “around the block” drive, it was good and somewhat fast. But the quarter mile time would not come close to the times of the 58 Impala. but, at this stage, my brother could still stay in hot rodding and cruising around with a different style of car. If he still wanted to go drag racing, it would not take much to get the Flathead motor a little more horsepower. Our friends at Reath Automotive always had a shiny new stroker Flathead motor with three carbs sitting on an engine stand. It was a great looking display, but could be bolted in and off to the drags. D/gas coupe class or perhaps, E/gas coupe class.

But, that window flew by and was no match for a new surfboard, a custom homebuilt van or a 49 VW sunroof sedan. Choices, choices, choices… When it came time for my wife and I to buy a new project,

we looked at two convertibles and a couple of coupes.

A lowered custom convertible would have hit the spot, but we liked the lowered rake look (above, initial art) better… No worries about sun tans or blowing hair while driving. 20 somethings with the open road ahead and a nice coastal rest spot with some coffee + snacks usually hit the spot. My friend's daughter was graduating and moving into her own apartment. I asked her what she wanted for a housewarming present and she said "A coat rack, but not a normal one. Like one made out of metal or something..." Two 31 spline axles, some push rods, and some ring gears.

OH YES! No Lie, Hand On a Bible. One day in 1970 headed south on 63rd street at Girard Ave.
Passing Northbound was a '57 Nomad converted to El Camino. ( Phila )
( perfect execution from what I saw )
I like to fall out of my truck

fullsizeoutput_88.jpeg fullsizeoutput_89.jpeg Did Mickey on one door of the roadster a while ago and of course Felix on the trunk so need something for the other door, did this last weekend. Probably fitting as some would say the car looks Mickey Mouse or just Goofy. fullsizeoutput_85.jpeg fullsizeoutput_87.jpeg
