    Hello,

One year, my wife’s small station wagon needed work I could not complete. So, it was driven to the dealer for the repair. While there, I made sure we had an alternate car, so we could still have individual access to go in different directions by our own selves and not rely on a hitch ride. The dealer said the rental car was a package deal for the factory fix it job. I was fine with that.

So, I was driven over to the rental dealer down the street and picked up a small inexpensive Toyota Corolla rental car. After signing out, I was walking up to the car when a dark blue Camaro z28 pulled into the lot and a harried 40 something lady walked into the office. She looked as mad as possible.

Then all of a sudden, the guy behind the counter came rushing out and asked me to come into the office. So, I followed them inside. The lady was mad and that she had already paid for the Camaro z28 rental. She got about two miles away and she became frustrated at where she sat in the car. She pulled over and had to change the seating to get a better view than when she left the rental lot.

It seemed fine when she drove off the lot, but now, in her power business suit, she was having problems seeing out of the window and the rear was blocking any view all around when she got in any traffic. She became frustrated and nervous and drove back to the rental store to get another car, as long as it was not a Camaro.

So, since she paid for it already and that she was mad, the counter guy said he had no other simple to drive cars on the lot. If she wanted to wait about an hour, he was sending one of his workers to go get a couple of other smaller economy cars. She was mad and said... "What about that white Toyota Corolla in the parking lot?" Well, that was rented to me.

Now, she looked at me and asked if we could trade. I said no because her rental cost was almost three times the amount of the little Toyota sedan. She said if we could trade, she would still pay for the Camaro and that I could use it as long as my original contract stated. At the same cost.

The guy behind the counter was flabbergasted and said if I said yes, he could rework the papers and I could drive the z28 on the switch. The cost was absorbed by the “harried” lady and it would all work out. Happy customers was the key to his successful business. So, we switched. Now, I was driving a bright blue new z28 Camaro and it had all accessories as part of the package. It was not what I wanted, but as long as I did not have to pay an “upcharge,” the company was fine with that.

As I got back on the road, I never received such looks from other drivers as I cruised home. Even little kids on a street corner gave me the thumbs up for driving the Camaro. It was not my cup of tea and I certainly did not like the look of that model of z28. It also did have a terrible blind spot that bothered me to no end.

So, I ended up in the slow lane any time I used it during the repair of our little station wagon. My wife refused to drive it anywhere during the repair week. It was one of those cars that just creates a situation that is not our cup of tea.

But, in all fairness, I can drive anything, but that poor “harried” lady all dressed up was probably late for a business meeting and did not know what she was getting into when she rented the blue car. The seats, the angle of windshield, the driving position were obviously not her “planned experience…” YRMV

  19. A good way to keep your brake fluid from leaking out if your hose would be in better condition.
    I’d replace it without question.
