Took some time to get the grill bars and crank hole straighter before I finish the very difficult bottom.
Need to add tiny bits of metal in spots and welds on the back side. Then I can add the inside panel. And grind down the outside welds. The crank hole was really hard to get to this point. It is still crooked.
Now back to the the other hot rod.

I agree. The truck used in this photoshop pic has a 5” drop axle and flat front crossmember. I have a model a style crossmember and will have my 34 front axle dropped hopefully to 4”. So my finished project won’t be as low up front as these awesome shots.
    Thanks for the feedback, Wyatt.

I didn’t take any pics but I stared at the truck cab for quite a bit of time today.
It was mostly cause the yard work has been ramping up lately and I walk past it all the time. I would feel bad if I worked on it when I should be only be focused on the Tudor. One thing is certain for sure though. I will again someday for I’m often still plotting its badass intentions.

@kidcampbell71 , you were looking for a cool post? This may be a grainy shot but it’s as cool as it gets. Wish I could have found a GIF for it. I was a wee 10 years old when this came out and the beginning chase seen has certainly stuck with me. So much so that it spawned the name of my truck which wound up my avatar title. As a kid the movie is great, funny and cheesy. As an adult mostly just sentimental now. It also stayed in my one liner Rolodex with other era films till this day.

Thanks @208custom for these left and right 32 frame reveal sections.
I can’t promise this but I’ve considered for some time making drastic changes to my frame or starting over. It has been a ton of work but I’ve just not been that happy with it. It all started with the old welder troubles. Then I decided to not channel it so hard. After that I’ve wanted to flush mount the doors but with cutting the roof to lengthen the cab so they fit. Gain a tiny bit of cab space. I have some other original 32 frame parts collected. I could do a lot better starting over.
Some would say I’m crazy, buy some repop rails. I rather enjoy the hard save. Piecing something together again would stick to the crappy path I built the current frame on. Might this only be a continuation as apposed to a cry uncle.
Adding 32 sides only has problems since the boxing plates are cut down for the 5” tall Plymouth rails.
I could sell the old frame and get more fresh bits like a x member, 32 front and rear crossmembers, plus rear horns.
More likely just thinking out loud.

Might be ground water contamination in Indiana: I've been having similar thoughts about my 41 truck frame repair. I don't know if I'm stupid, cheap, or stubborn. ;) Keep at it.

Cab is in molasses as I write this.
I could take some of the old bed still cut in pieces from few years ago for ya ? That I no longer have desire to use. I got down to wanting to make my own from some of the portions. Mostly the tailgate, its hardware, and stake boxes. Then I picked it up one day and said no way! Way-no lite-o.
Almost wrapped up a jig last week to drop the front axle I pillaged from Tudorkester. That’s Lakester and Tudor. Looks like Too Dorkster though, eeeek. Does this pic count then?

I have some of the coolest tricks to apply to this 92 year old Rusty lame ol that I’ve ever thought of. Wrangling on several of them currently.

Oh and she can’t wait to have her full length dress back. Sure hemming above the knees made ya feel foot loose and fancy free. Now she just wants a little more class and humility. The “take a couple inches from the top” will be all the pizazz she’s gonna need.

IMG_4836.jpeg I have to jump in and defend myself here. Before somebody points out or wants to school a youngster about the wrong ways. That is not a stacked secret stash of scrap 2x4s. I only hastily thought one could brace the cab before mock cutting the upper deck. After all I was about to cut the entire thing apart anywho. I had no easy way to get d’welder in back yard or plugged in. First I thought I could bolt something in using existing holes. This had me remove all the original wood structure carriage bolts and square nuts. Which I safely salvaged and have de-rusted for reinstallation. Well one lock washer died but I’ll locate another Henry 92yr old round here. Then I said hey, lots of wood here about for other stuff I’m actually supposed to be working on. Let’s borrow it, I won’t tell on me. It seemed pretty darn traditional at the time. Now it’s just funny lookin back.
    IMG_4837.jpeg
    So hilarious!
I wonder if I can reuse it for cab reassembly

Use hardwood for the body blocks, it’s surprising how much they wear and squish.

RatTrap, I have plenty of old Maple and Ash to use for the inner structure reconstruct. The angle pieces behind the seat were worthy of going back into use.

Does this count as metal progress or regress ?
I done gone a broke a perfectly round stirrin wheeel. Just started one of the neatest ideas I’ve had to date. Finishing up a mold and waiting on a sheet of polished stainless. Hopefully in that time I will trip in the messy “work” space landing face first on the misplaced 40s black truck horn button. Then I might be able to invent some sort of chrome bezel mounting ringy thingy. Head scratcher , all of it, let me tell ya.

Well this here is all the proof one would need to diagnose my poor time management and lack of awareness for it.
This was from the outside a nice usable passenger side door handle 15 yrs ago I suppose now. I forgot to remove it when I stuffed the cab in the back yard after beginning work on the Tudor. If you asked me I would have told you “augh, it’s been out bout four years”. Even though I’ve been walking past it for ten years now saying “dang I better get that off before the weather ruins it”. I even noticed the rust and maybe freeze had the lower edge of stainless separating for most likely 4 years, idiot. So now I am rebuilding it and protecting from elements hopefully longer than it withstood from before this point. I’ll coat all the raw steel in POR15 before putting the shiny back on. Also I’m straightening that out and polishing back to near perfect but not.

Does this count as “speed holes” ? I cut them out of the seat base today in attempt to loose weight. A false bottom panel addition could make for a nice hiding place for a little high test bootleg liquor, winky wink. I have to fix a few damage spots it gained I don’t know how. A little extra piping in the right places with some alterations to the side ends can turn its looks around to a much more appropriate style. Well maybe style is not quite the way to put it . Anyways this seat was made “ for the seafood lover in you “ not 32 lover.

Had to make a Buck to roll two half’s of steel sheet around. Then weld the two pieces together along the front and rear long ends.
    IMG_5263.jpeg
This will then be replicated three more times. Due to the fact I’ve settled on what I believe is absolutely wicked exhaust plans.
IMG_4896.jpeg IMG_4944.jpeg Cut a pair of 18” Cherry Bombs in halves to do some fancy weld’n on. I want the exhaust unit from after the primary tubes to look like it’s straight pipes. So I will add on the same diameter tube in front of the mufflers with tapered inserts inside directing flow into their cores. The pipes after will be a little smaller but still big enough to look big and not stand out that mufflers are actually there, all four, hee hee. I’ve completely planned out how they will line up and exit under the frame.
    IMG_5264.jpeg
I came up with this idea through thinking about Roundy Round racers of the past pre-Boom Tubes era but getting there. I had wanted the flattened oval exits for some time to give more of the stock car race shop tricks influence.
    IMG_4887.jpeg
That led me to this …
    IMG_4882.jpeg
mind you I will use stainless tube for the main header sections and the 4 merge collectors. After the collector flanges it will go to the red. I am still researching wether to add a third H to tie the two left and right banks together.
