My son is getting married this weekend, he asked me if they could use the ‘55 Chevy as their wedding car. Of course they can. IMG_1501.jpeg

  2. Ah, to be young.. Good on you for lending the car! Pics!!
On a side note, I felt a little lazy buying Armor All window wipes as pictured. But the damn things work well!

  5. Yep, very cool! I was supposed to use my 56 Ford for a wedding a few years back, but the starter went out…. So, I borrowed a friends 55 Chevy convertible to haul the bride in to drop her off. Even cooler that this is your kids wedding. I haven’t got to that yet with any of my kids although might not be too many more years.

Have fun! We did this for my daughter’s wedding 14 years ago. I drove her to church in the pickup and my son in law drove her to the reception in it as well.

Going down the highway, they got tons of waves and horns from the “Just Married” sign.

Though my son in law could drive a standard, it took some learning to accommodate the floor starter button and ignition lock but he managed we’ll.

    Good fun for everyone!

Sorry, the pictures are pictures of pictures so focus not great.

My daughter and son in law used my 63 Nova for their wedding car. I was honored. The photographer loved the car as a backdrop. Then several years later a friend asked if I would chauffeur her son and his bride. It was great fun, but I declined wearing the chauffeurs hat!

    Awesome. Congratulations.

I think it's kinda cool that some of the younger people appreciate the class of old cars.

I was asked a few years ago to be "chauffeur" and use my '57 wagon as the "get away" car for a coworkers wedding. This last summer they finally tied the knot.

  12. What a nice looking young couple! Congrats, you got one married off.

  13. I can only hope any future son in law of mine wants to use my 53 or 54. Only way it'd be better is if any said potential future son in law didn't want to because he already had his own nicely built rod he wanted to use lol

    Been married 23 years & wouldn't change a thing..
Well, except maybe if we could go back & use a classic car Instead of the Limo.

  18. Congratulations. Just make sure your son understands that she’s always right and he’s always wrong.

Congratulations! When my first son was getting married my brother and I busted our butts to get me dad's 36 Ford Cabriolet finished in 30 days in time for the wedding. I drove the newlyweds from the church to the reception sitting in the rumble seat. It was a lot of late nights and hard work but it is one of my proudest and best accomplishments. When my second son got married I also drove them.

I bought Gumby at a thrift store about 22 years ago and he was sitting in a couple of project cars before this, sort of an inside joke for us.

Unfortunately, I don't have a photo nor any knowledge if any family members have one either, but my brides' neighbors in 1967 used red lip stick to adorn our 55 Nomad tailgate with " Just Married ", the Shoreline Beige finish was by this time well weathered & seemed to hang on for months even after the rubbing compound & ultimately Ajax & a Brillo pad treatment

Congrats to them both! That's a great looking car too, original black with a blue interior. Love it

  28. I have driven several newlyweds away when I had my old 4 door sedan, we even celebrated our 40th anniversary at the Knoxville, Tennessee show sporting the Just Married spare tire cover. HRP

30 YEARS AGO, MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WENT TO RENO TO GET MARRIED, WE DROVE MY '32 FORD ROADSTER.
OUR FRIENDS WITNESSED THE EVENT, AFTERWARDS MY FRIEND DROVE MY ROADSTER BACK TO THEIR HOME.
I HAD A MAGNETIC "JUST MARRIED" SIGN I PUT ON THE CAR AFTER COMING OUT OF THE CHAPEL.
WHEN HE DECIDED TO DRIVE IT BACK TO HIS HOUSE I RODE WITH HIM.
THE TWO OF US JUST ABOUT FILLED THE ROADSTER.
TWO GUYS PULL UP BESIDE US AT A LIGHT, GAVE US A "THUMBS UP."
NOT TO BE JUDGMENTAL, BUT, THEY LOOKED REAL CONTENT TOGETHER.

OUR WIVES, DRIVING BEHIND US, WITNESSED THE ACTION, AT THE NEXT STOP SIGN THEY PULLED BESIDE US, AND YELLED " GET THAT JUST MARRIED SIGN OFF THE DECK LID..

WHAT A FUNNY MEMORY, STILL TALKED ABOUT TODAY.
    LOL
