GoodGuys in Joliet, IL for 2007

I see GoodGuys added a new stop in Joliet, IL on Sept 21-23 for 2007 at the Chicagoland Speedway. Might be good news for those in the Chicago area. So I assume the show will be at the Speedway but will they be drag racing across the street at RT66 Raceway? Kirk may need to extend his cart to give us shuttle rides.

I hope the James Dean Run is one week later next year.

 

As of right now, there are no plans for drags in Joliet. Events are always a work in progress deal so if drags are needed they may be added in the future. You never know.

I can't wait to check it out next year and hang out with a another new group of people.

 

Is this replacing the Milwaukee show? Anybody know if the Joliet Speedway has indoor area for vendors? Thx.

 

no indoor vendors, but they have some area under the grandstands which is fairly good for keeping the elements away.

Im sketchy on this... I remember what happened when the Street Machine Nationals went there...

 

There is space for indoor vendors in the pit garages. Most will be outside though.

Joliet does not replace Waukesha. The Waukesha event is moving to Madison - a far better venue.

 

That's pretty close to the Pileup, both in terms of time and location. Wonder if that's a coincidence.

 

As you can imagine, there are limited dates available at the track. Goodguys made sure they didn't coincide with Hunnert. I would definitely NOT let that happen.

 

I'm excited! I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will have cruzn under the lights on the track like Charlotte, and not during the daytime like KC or Indy.....hint, hint KIRK!

 

Being in September, I don't know which it would be. I'll try to find out.

 

Tell Gary I will not go unless it's under the lights.

 

joliet...sweet...if only they get the drags!!!!...thats what makes goodguys indy worth going too...the vintage drags...even though it rains atleast one day every year...everyone i know still goes for the chance of seeing the drags...and the beer whilst watching said drags

 

I hope it works out well there. The Super Chevy shows there suck compared to Indy.

I'm glad it's not going to be the same date as the Cheaters show down here. I was worried about that (for shop purposes).

 

Got to have the drags, i'll have my digger done next year and thats to close to home for me.

 

I definitely cannot promise anything, but I can put in a good word for having HAMB dragsters there like in Texas.

from my understanding GG is already talking to the Nostalgia Pro Comp Association about having their staight line show at Rt 66 in 2007. The NPCA finals were supposed to run at Rt 66 in conjunction with Match Race Madness but the weather killed that deal.

Shameless Plug: The NPCA finals are happening this weekend at Bowling Green, KY and a NPCA show will happen there next year in place of the NHRR, although not on the same weekend. Also look for NPCA events at Kansas City and possibly St Louis and Norwalk. For details see nostalgiaprocomp.com.

What's Rt 66, other than a highway?

 

It's the name of the dragstrip in Joliet. I was there on one of the Power Tour stops in 2000 I believe it was. Nice, new facility then.

 

Aha, then drags there is news to me. I wouldn't count on it just yet, but it would be cool.

 

I wonder if this is the same weekend as the biggest wettest plastic junkfest in WI? AKA Jefferson swap meet.

 

Sept. 27/28 is Jefferson next fall.
