  1. Nice truck Gene, I keep thinking I need to build another ‘57 as a 4x4.

  2. I love me some ‘57 Fargos with early hemis!!!

  3. Met this guy this week and he had an interesting D500 shorty. He goes by Marvin. 20220620_124332.jpg

Last update. Painted in Aug, 2022. Around 4,000 miles on it. As expected, its a great driver. Going to be my year around driver, even in the snow & salted roads. (I'm retired, if the roads are really bad, I stay home. Gene

I had to load it all in a fudge up spot in the desert.

    59 or 60?
    Love that era Dodge trucks.
I had a 58 for a while, took me 2-3 years to finally get it. My wife's youngest brother wanted it real bad, so my wife talked me into selling it to him, and helping him get it running. Then one of my other brother in laws painted the truck for him. He drove it a week then sold it! I was ready to .... well you know... My wife hasn't ever even suggested I sell anything since.

I would look for a nice Poly for it, if it was mine.

  8. 60 I think..bought the cab w no paperwork

  9. Cool that it’s a big back window!

  10. Is the glass easy to find??
Windshield looks to be around but the rear is pretty scratched up

  11. The windshield is still available new, the rear windows are not, they are around but not super easy to find, I have a spare for mine, just in case.

  12. Gonna have to keep an eye on rusted out trucks in the east with good glass

Just thought I would add my truck that we recently acquired from the family of the gentleman who built it. Unfortunately it has a few details that are ot here so the photos I can share are limited. It has a front frame stub and rear axle from a 72 New Yorker, 318 Magnum with auto OD trans. Well thought out in every aspect. Includes ac/cruise/tilt/ps /pb/pw/p locks/p mirrors… drives very nice.
It was built by this gentleman from 1999 to 2003. We have been friends with the family we got this from for over 50 years and the fact that they entrusted us to maintain their dad’s truck is an honour. I haven’t been able to wipe the smile off my face now for 2 weeks! I always build my own stuff but this feels pretty good to get one mostly done. If it is too ot I will remove. That is a very nice looking truck! I like it a lot too!

  15. The aluminum grill says it's a 1960, 1958 would have a three horizontal bar grill, 1959 would have a grate looking grill with rectangles other than that all three trucks are pretty much identical visually speaking.
I've had all of them over the years here is my current truck but the pictures are probably 4 or 5 years old although it doesn't look much different today other than the aqua paint on the front clip is starting to look like the rest of the truck... I am not really a patina fan boy but I have to admit on this particular truck I kind of like the decay to a point and it's definitely cheaper than bodywork which as an old truck this thing is loaded with tiny dings and dents. 20160130_123229.jpg 20160402_161731.jpg 20160322_192432.jpg

Both have drivetrain and cabs are in surprisingly good shape. How far are you from Western South Dakota?

57 Power Wagon? Ho Yea, don't let that one get crushed! The 1 ton dully doesn't look bad either. in my younger days I would have been dragging both of them home.

When my son was 15, we found a 57 Sweepside, it was really rough, but not something we couldn't have saved. My son fell in love with it. The guy gave him a price and told him if he came up with that money by a certain date, he would sell it to him. My son sold his go-kart and some other stuff and had the cash a couple days before the dead line. The guy welshed out on the deal, told my son he was having an auction and my son could buy it there could but it there if he wanted it. The guy thought he was going to make a fortune off the 57. We were at the auction, even with his buddy shilling the price up, it didn't reach 1/2 the amount my son was going to pay a couple weeks earlier. After the auction, the guy saw my son and told him that he could buy it for that agreed amount, now that the auction was over.
My son looked him in the eye and told him he should have honored the deal before the auction, told him he wouldn't buy it now for even 1/2 the agreed price. I just stood in the back ground and laughed. I would have done the same thing!

That is really nice - you could post details and pics in the new off topic section.
