I used to love to fly when I was a lot younger, and the commercial airline industry cared about quality engineering, but now, I really don't trust the integrity of the industry.

There was an SNL airline commercial parody back in the 1980's advertising "Trans American Airlines: Your feet feel like they never left the ground, because we treat you like dirt."

@squirrel this whole thread is so funny! You went and looked at something interesting in your neck of the woods and posted it here, asking about body panels. Then of course someone suggests you might get it. You mention it might happen and had checked deeper.
That's like going to an AA meeting and asking if anyone wants a coffee or cig. :D
Since you also mention the wheel size, I'd guess you have already done a bit of research. ;)
At this point, it's a matter of if the buy-in is right, plans and if you are going to keep the paint job! :D

Claimed to be '49? Early would be 6" mech brakes [I have a new set of shoes] and you may stop in time. Late '49 would be 9" hyd, way better.

Hey that's the same motor that's in my boat, 55 hp homelite bearcat outboard.

This one has the small cable operated brakes (and neither the brake nor clutch pedal move, they've probably been sitting unused for several decades)

My wife suggested that if I get the car and manage to take it on a LeMons Rally, a clown costume would be most appropriate.

After talking with the seller yesterday, it seems unlikely that I'll get it...for now...we'll see what happens.

Not exactly; the Homelite/Bearcat is an evolution of the Crosley at twice the Hp and 33% more cubes. With some manipulating some parts can be swapped around. I am using the H'lite crank and rods [1/4" more stroke, forged crank, beefer rods] and a 3/4 grind H'lite cam in my Crosley build. Funny that when Homelite came out with the outboard in the 60's the write up hinted that it was a redesigned Crosley. I wrote to them if parts would interchange with a Crosley. They flat out said nothing would interchange. I was around 14/15 yrs old, shame they lied to a kid. I figured it out as the years went by.

I am betting Squirrel had already made his decision whether to buy or not before he posted the original picture.

Definitely, an acquired taste, when it comes to something as distinctive as a "Crosley" automobile.
That being said, when the owner of this particular Crosely, attends a car show, its going to be the only one there, like it indeed!
I like the flames and the green striping around the flames.
The tail lights are cool as well !
