WOW, Leaves me speechless, I never knew how extensive his collection was. Let's see, farmland in my area is bringing $13K an acre, wonder how many acres I'd need to sell to own the full sized Wanless roadster? Better keep the land, it's a better investment.

    Love the Bill Woodward roadster.
Can't think why that is though :D

  10. I visited this collection back
in 2013 when I was picking
up a car Mr. Munz had sold

Ken met me - he had worked
for Mr. Munz for years as his
    car mechanic/custodian/caretaker

I asked if I could tour the building
and Ken obliged - I spent several
    hours visiting all three levels

    The building that housed
    the collection was in the
    part of Madison that politicians
    and wealthy businessmen kept
their hobbies of the female persuasion
set up so they could pay them
    social visits …

    Mr. Munz came from modest
means - he used to sweep the
    floor of the corner building
that was originally a car dealership
with a full basement that served
as a repair shop - there was no
freight elevator for the cars …

    A spiral concrete drive connected
the basement to the main and
    second floor - the transition
from the floor to the drive was
steep - so it had to be modified
    to accommodate the low clearance
hot rods in his collection …

What impress me was Mr. Munz
was a preservationist - he only
    did what was necessary to
make hot rods and other vehicles
like midget sprint cars & motorcycles
run again as they did when
    they were modified back
    in the day …

I have a memory for visits to
private car collections from years past
along with just about every vehicle
That I have picked up and dropped
    off over the years …

This was a special day …

My thread is here on the HAMB

Did Neal East own the Woodward roadster at one time?

Correct, the car was modified by Bill Woodard, the main thing East did was get it on the cover of R&C. I saw it at the Seivers brothers farm back in 1976, it was in a bit of disrepair but I surprised Bernie when I recognized it immediately.

  15. Just an FYI . . . The "Lot6nn 19nn ??????????????????????????" text at the top of each post is actually a "hyperlink" to the auction listing . . . simply click on that text to get more info & pics about each car.

Damn. As others have said, it's a shame to break up this collection. I'd LOVE to pick up a couple of these.

NEWC over on the Ford Barn says (The Brothers Collection in Salem OR will be buying them all) I checked and they have a huge private collection of very high end cars. Maybe no one else will get lucky?
