I have been chasing my tail after the accident coming home from Cherokee, I'm still trying to locate parts and a quality shop to do my painting which is minimal.

    I have a Tri-City working on a bumper.

I was talking with Chip Carrier at Tri-City Plating and he suggested Metal Brite as someone to possibly straighten, repair & re-chrome the grill of the Ranch Wagon, I've just never heard of them. HRP

No website and their FB page doesn't show much. They do put on an annual customer appreciation car show meaning that they are involved in the hobby more than just being a shop to take your stuff to be polished.

Personally I would call them and name drop the name of your plater as the guy who suggested them. Before you do take some high quality high resolution photos of the grill so that you have them to send to them to show exactly what you are asking about.

Yeah, I couldn't find much about them on the web.

I have used Advanced Plating in the past but they have a message on the machine that they are at a show and wont be back till sometime next week.

No big deal, I'm trying to get information for the insurance adjuster, just a lot of hurry up and wait! HRP

Mike, the owner passed a while ago. I only know he had some good people with him. I knew him but never used his services but friends did and they thought he did excellent work

I haven’t had any plating done in many years , Browns Plating or Paul’s Plating were my go to shops . The cost has taken me from the plating of parts anymore .

I have had the garnish Mouldings in my 40 & the instrument cluster in my wifes f100 plated by metal brite happy with the plating .highline not so much I will say highline has a fast turn time & are cheaper but don't give them a really nice piece to plate & a*****py core at the same time you will get the*****py core back with new*****py plating that starts peeling after a few years

I have a front bumper coming from Tri-City Plating in Elizabethtown, Tennessee.
They did the bumpers on the wagon when I was building it so I know what to expect from them.

Someone mentioned Browns and I used them exclusively when I was building motorcycles back in the 70's.

Thanks guys, I believe I'll keep looking, I haven't heard back from Advanced plating. HRP

I've had Metal Brite do SS trim work and it was very good, somewhat expensive. I did take a piece to them to chrome plate but, if I remember correctly, they outsource it.

I heard back from Advanced Plating and almost had ANOTHER heart attack!

This is copied from their email

I would estimate the plating and repair cost on both the grille and center bullet at about $ 4,500.00 - $ 5,000.00.
    Thank you, Jason Latham

Fellow Hamber Paul sold me a nice bullet and a couple of upper grille pieces that are straight and undamaged. HRP

I would be very curious how many hours and what hourly rate this is based on. Maybe this is completely justifiable, I don’t know much about the process.

I do know that I work on multi million dollar machinery lines and have a hell of a time getting 4-5 grand out of customers to repair them. But trim pieces that can be had for hundreds of dollars? Good luck with that…

Last July I had everything on my '54 Ranch Wagon chromed including the pot metal but not the stainless trim for $2900.00 Not show quality but really nice driver quality. They only had to redo one of the door handle*****ons. The shop did the prep on site and then sent it out to who knows where for the actual chroming (Mexico?). And yes it was triple plated.
