I always thought Ann Margret's was one of the best.

 

I love Ann-Margret.
But I prefer the quick change.
Less whining.

 

More inspiration for ya finally got the brakes figured out on the roadster. Now to finish the modified.

 

Yes A chassis they work well. Started working a race car as well

I've been saving these castings until just the 'right' project came along.
Levi Jones was quite the character and his Quickchanges were just enough different to be cool. Most, if not all, were magnesium and he had a reputation with the local fire departments of having foundry fires on occasion.

This one has the deeper case with a flat style cover and 11 ribbed side bells. The center section is narrower than Halibrands and parts interchange with Frankland and Winters etc.

I've got a couple of small cracks to weld up and will show some detail pics of that and some other interesting things.

@Rickybop, don't worry about the money. I can take a long tube cross ram Mopar intake as partial payment. The rest can be paid off in Coney Island Hot Dogs over the next 20 years!

I'm ending this project and focusing all I have on the 1931 Plymouth Coupe I just acquired.

I considered doing both projects. I like the idea of having a hot rod coupe and a roadster/speedster sitting side by side. For that matter, I'd like one of everything sitting side by side. But we know that ideas and reality are sometimes two different things. I have to be real with myself. I'm pushing 70 years old. I'm not guaranteed I can finish one hot rod, let alone two of 'em. I do appreciate the dream for dreaming's sake. I think it helped get me through all the difficulties I was struggling with. Many of you were right there, dreaming along with me. And I thank you.

It's a little bit strange and disappointing to give up on something I spent so much time collecting parts and planning for. But I like this coupe a lot. The speedster was going to be cool, but pretty far outside the box. This coupe will be more mainstream hot rod. More along the lines of what the HAMB is all about and what we really like.

Besides... if I'm going to be blasting down gravel roads, careening through ditches and racing across farmers' fields evading the cops with you guys, I better do it in a real hot rod instead of some crazy speedster thing. LOL

Some of the parts meant for the speedster will go on the walls, others will be sold. But a lot of it will now be used on the coupe. Certainly not least of which, Bruce has agreed to shift efforts with me and build the quick change rear axle for the coupe instead of the speedster. Yay!

So don't be sad.

The quickchange in my 60 Falcon gasser project (still dont know if it's a Frankland or early Coleman) has Jones magnesium bells on it. They dont have the same bulbous curves as yours, though. Shaped more like the Frankland bells. I wasn't able to keep using the magnesium front seal retainer plate, though. One of the bells has a hole in the magnesium welded up-about the size of a 50 cent piece. Tricky to do from what i understand.

I do get about moving projects/ahem: "builders" down the road due to aging(& I'm right there w/you), & finding something "better"(or at least more desired). Damn, do I have a lot move...

I wouldn't get a lot of money for the key parts of the roadster/speedster...
frame, cowl, grille, fuel tank and turtle deck. So maybe I'll keep'em for just in case.

I didn't want to continue to commit to it right now, but I guess I don't want to give it up forever if the good Lord gives me time enough. So I'm really glad to hear you say that, Bruce. Thank you my friend.

Interesting thing about multiple projects. Sometimes parts/etc fall into place, iffen
've got a rough idea of what *could* work, instead of a "hard" plan. (like a lot of mine... ;( ).
'Course the flip side to that record is, only a few parts ever show up(& are rarely affordable), so's the projects... I'm sorry - the "builders" - , languish. Another "am there - doing that". ;( .
But, it does keep things interesting, as long as the dream can stay alive w/even just a little spark.
I think you're going to find these two builders, complimentary. .
