As cool as this car is and its evolution, I always get a kick out of the details on the walls of this tiny garage. The vintage dustpan that has the embossed letters on it, with that distinctive wire handle, so far with web searches, that relic hasn't shown up!

So fess up amigo, where did it come from, was it a find at a swap-meet back east?
I am also curious about the radio hanging on the pegboard, what brand is it?
I will say I am very impressed with the custom NEON sign.
I have a Mobile Pegasus NEON sign in my office, the cool thing about NEON is, it never goes out of style.
Keep at it kid, you are making great progress!
    Thanks from Dennis.

    Hey @Tim
That is pretty cool, I would have never figured that it was connected to the railroad.
I was more curious as to the back story of where @J.Ukrop got it, or if it was something that was handed down to him from a family member etc, etc.
    Thanks from Dennis.

Not so long ago you could have gone to any of the many quality local radiator shops and had them trim or re-core your radiator and be done for a good price. The personal connection to those local shops was part of the overall "experience". That was true with all kinds of one off local automotive related shops.
Many, maybe most, of the people that see your car will never know how much it took to make it just right. They wouldn't have noticed that 5/8". More experienced eyes would see it nut few would have said any thing TOO YOU, just each other. The important one is you and that is who you fixed it for along with the many other detail fixes. The options were lookout it and let it steal some joy or just not look at it. That is a real thing. Not looking at what we didn't take the time to do right is too often the easy fix.

This car has that tank, using that mounting.

    I finished it in 2012.

Lots of replies to come, but I just wanted to check in. The last couple of weeks have had some low points that aren't pertinent to the thread. I haven't felt much like working on the car, which is a completely new one for me. After feeling down for awhile, I realized that we have to keep moving. So that's exactly what I did.

Post all that, my mom made her way back to San Francisco. Last time she was here, I was laid up from surgery, so it was super special to have a more fun visit. One of the best parts? Showing her the car!

Her enthusiasm is the best. I was back to smiling in no time.
    IMG_5747.jpg
And finally, we have one last look before it all comes apart.

Also, tonight around midnight, this thread will cross paths with another thread that many of you may know. Can’t wait to share more about that!

Just touched down at SFO after a whirlwind trip to Missouri to shoot @BigJoeArt ’s perfect Model T roadster for the next issue of DicE Magazine. Joey rolled out the red (lavender?) carpet, and we spent 48 action-packed hours ripping around Missouri and Iowa, eating lots of pizza, and dreaming of projects past, present, and future. I’m writing this on my phone in seat 23B, but I’ll add a link to his build thread when I’m back at the house. IMG_5978.jpeg
Joey is the best—I’m fired up to get back in the garage so I can get my roadster on the road again.

No one beats Casey’s breakfast pizza. It’s just a fact.

Hopped up on gas station pizza and ska music the suspected duo was reportedly seen flagrantly ignoring all matter of traffic decorum. The mustachioed pair seemed set on peacocking every sort of “you can’t do that it just won’t work” as they rattled bystanders across state lines.

more details as they emerge. Back to you all in the studio.

I haven't lived in Missouri in almost a decade and I still dream of Casey's pizza. IYKYK! What a weekend. Can't wait to get my film developed and get this article in print.

Inspired by Joey's roadster, I got back out there and continued tearing apart my car.

Tomorrow, Yama and Blue are coming by to help pull the body off the chassis. Then, if I can get my hands on an engine hoist, I'll finish disassembly later this week.

Great stuff, Joey! I’m probably too far a trek for a hoist but it’s here if you need it.

    You can use my hoist.

It is the kind that comes apart for easy transport. I can drop it off for you if you like.

Need to see if you have a joist above head you could put a block and tackle on. I’d suggest a little winch but I know your power in the building is pretty limiting

Thank you for the offers @Jeff34 and @gimpyshotrods — I appreciate it big time. As I write this, I’m sitting outside of Yama’s friend’s house waiting for him to get off work so I can get Yama’s hoist back. If it falls through, I’ll let you guys know.

Last night, we got the gang back together to pull the body off. Having three people was far better than when it was just two. Blue was pleasantly surprised with how smoothly it went, and Yama and I laughed when we thought back to our previous times lifting the sheetmetal.
    IMG_6047.jpeg
Blue beat the rain in his ‘64 Chevy wagon, which looked mighty fine on the Terrace. Usually it’s sitting on the ground, but here it is at diving height.
    IMG_9090.jpeg
Yama’s been working with old digital cameras lately, and he snapped some great ones of us in action. They have an early H.A.M.B. feel!
    IMG_9089.jpeg
So good to see the guys!
    IMG_9092.jpeg
I even donned an NOS TRJ sweatshirt for the occasion.

The body has been temporarily moved to an undisclosed location, and the garage is getting prepped for the full chassis teardown.
    IMG_6011.jpeg
Oh! And one more thing before I sign off. As soon as I made it to Joey’s in Missouri, I was greeted by a framed @BigJoeArt original on the passenger seat. I couldn’t be more excited. The roadster looks familiar, doesn’t it?

That might be the best thing I’ve ever seen him draw. Real real cool!

speaking of real cool, you got out of here just in time! This mornings temp said “feels like 20.” Decidedly not roadster weather for sure.
