Technical What are you working on?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jul 18, 2022.

  1. Today we went salvage yard hunting for gas pedals. We picked 2, inch one from an S-10 and one from a Silverado. I also grabbed a throttle cable from a TBI Silverado. We went to pay and the used throttle cable was more than the two gas pedals put together. $23 for a used throttle cable, no thanks. Lloyd turned me onto the Mr. Gasket 5657, which is only $41 for the whole kit!! The Mr. Gasket will work great. Thanks Brother! This is Little Truckdoctor gas pedal harvesting. We also put the rear brakes together and rear shocks on. This is Little Truckdoctor installing shocks. IMG_8558.jpeg IMG_8559.jpeg IMG_8556.jpeg

I've been working in the trunk...

Gas can mount (some insurance since my Moon tank is probably a little too small)...

    And a trunk-mounted battery tray...

I love seeing all the work folks are posting!

Hey Phil , Is just the Lube-Atory heated or the whole garage?

  8. Just the back part that used to be a one bedroom apartment, I'd go broke trying to heat the rest of it, to damn cold in Buffalo

Its getting cold here...nothing like Buffalo . Just wondering if you have a warm place to build hot rods in the Winter. Holiday re runs suck:p

  10. It's not a huge space but has gas forced hot air, 8.5 ft ceiling and insulated, the 57 looks pretty big in that spot after the Henry J and the 41 was in there.
I keep it around 50 degrees constant but do turn it up a bit when I'm out there working, 50 feels like 100 when it's 10 below zero.

Working on updating my EB9A with a tach converter so that my Flamethrower ignition will work with the Sun10K tach. Still need to solder the connections.

  19. The test drive on the 41 yesterday went pretty good, I'll have to get used to the new wider shifter that's in my leg zone a bit. It'll be a long 6 months waiting to drive this beast again.

Finally got some of the chrome bolted on this old fiberglass front clip, now got to move the front clip mounts for the grill to clear the frame when it flips "1 step forward = 2 steps back"

Recycling an old race car exhaust I found for 50 bucks to fit the hemi. A big block chevy’s exhaust ports are a half inch further apart so surgery and rearranging of piping is in their future. IMG_2179.jpeg IMG_2178.jpeg

  25. After I removed the fender strut rods on the blue 57 bed, I worked on getting marbles out of spray cans today, no reds.

20241118_115920.jpg 20241118_085448.jpg Helped @G_Don aka Gordie box his model A frame. He's just tacking the plates in here. We leveled it and tied it down before he skip welded it all together. Came out bitchin:D but my old ass is beat...

There is definitely something to be said for this wish. I can occasionally bribe one of the wife's boys into helping out, but it's tough when you aren't from the area originally and live in the middle of nowhere.
