IF YOUR GOOGLE GENE, IT SAYS HE HAS A NET WORTH OF TWO MILLION,
DOWN FROM 5 MILLION A FEW MONTHS AGO,
I WENT TO HIS PLACE AT THE DESERT TWO MONTHS AGO, THERE WAS A HOIST, AND MANY ASSETS VISIBLE FROM THE ROAD AT HIS PLACE,
    FYI.....

IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN---- THAT IS A PLAN TO FAIL......

  3. If you are still alive and
    somewhat cognitive …

    You will have made plenty
of mistakes along by the way

We know that net worths listed on the internet are always accurate.

If you don't want to support it, don't support it. We don't know anyone's personal business, so we have no idea what his financial situation is. People are trying to help an elderly man who has gone through some crappy stuff lately. He happens to be an icon in this hobby/industry. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

  7. I briefly looked at the
    Instagram post and put
    that information
    in the original thread title

    I corrected the title and
    edited my first post

The Instagram video says the 24th, the text says Saturday in one spot and Sunday on the other. Seems like the flyer is spot on. Sunday, November 24th.

  9. I am corresponding with someone
who works at the venue for the car show

    He has indicated that several
renowned hot rod and custom cars
are attending from outside of California

I will post when I know more

Here is the location of the car show:

  10. I just got off the phone with
    one of the volunteers who
    helped organize the event …

All of the car show spaces
    have been sold out including
    25 additional spaces

    The local volunteers donated
    car trophies for eight classes

    Gene Winfield will personally
choose the winner in each class
    and sign their trophy

    No vendor spaces are available
    Gene Winfield’s personal memorabilia
and swag will be available for sale

The owners of the venue donated
    the space and local volunteers
are providing the man and woman
    power to put this on

All proceeds go to Gene Winfield’s
care needs - he is staying in California

This is what the hobby is about …

Turning the wheel - helping each other

Gene’s been through the grinder for this thing of ours—a relentless, soul-sucking beast that gives as much as it takes, and sometimes far more. The man’s poured blood, sweat, and god-knows-what-else into it, and from what I’ve gathered about the last few months, it’s taken him to hell and back. The stories I’ve heard are unspeakable. Unthinkable. The kind of shit that leaves scars you don’t show.

Now, I’m not claiming to know all the details, but I know enough to say this: the benefit is appropriate. So let’s not nitpick or overthink it. If you want to support Gene, then show up, throw in, do the thing. If not, stay home.

  13. Update

    Car show spaces sold out.

    Auction items being
    added as I post.

    Legends are driving
    and flying in to attend.

    Event may continue
    past 3 pm if warranted.

    This is a volunteer effort
    by the community to
    raise money for Gene’s
    care & well being

    All proceeds go to
    Gene who is staying
    in California

  15. Amazing what happens when you trust the wrong people. Taking advantage of the elderly is about as low as it goes. I wish him well and hope he is now surrounded by good people.

  16. ^^^^ Read what has been posted above ^^^^

This thread is about helping Gene
and not about discussing the past …

  17. And helping you are, but Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Just think it's a good lesson for those with older friends or family to be wary of. Glad those things are now in the rear view mirror for him. Carry on...
