What would you call a terrace? In Briton it’s a row of houses.

  9. In spite of all my efforts not to, I've ended up learning something new today. I was under the impression that they were called bangers due to their being vaguely shaped like bombs. Your explanation seems to make better sense.

Near side, far side: driver's side, passenger side. Saw that one in a mid 90s Mini magazine.

Spanner: wrench. Fortunately we all say hammer. And I will bet that I don't need to define BFH.

But what about mole grips? Is that like Vise grips?

I’ve known many of the automotive terms because Dad had an Austin Healey Sprite, my high school buddies looked at me like I lost my mind when using the terms boot, bonnet, sil etc

A shooting brake is a station wagon. Bathroom is lew? or luu? or loo? Dave G beat me to it. How about aluminum is aluminium?

A "lavatory", or "water closet", is affectionately called the loo. It can also be referred to as "the bog".....

Not exactly, but close. A shooting brake might be described as the two-door version of the station wagon...
