Projects 1946 GMC Bonneville build

No one answered the phone. So I got Bob Dauernheim, he's not running his Lakester anymore.

 

I can't believe that no one pointed out that my bottles were in wrong!

 

I****ume it's because one way is safer but what's the difference between them being mounted parallel to the driveshaft vs perpendicular?

 

It's a liquid with a plastic tube inside. With the top facing forward and under hard braking, the liquid would go to the front and may no disperse when you hit the*****on.

 

Makes sense!

 

Someone found that out. I guess there are some hard learned lessons behind most of these rules.

Marsha the Firefox bottles can be placed in any position that's why they a re a great system to use. The suppression liquid is not dispensed with a tube. Its actually in a bladder that's inside the bottle. When the Fire pin is pulled on the bottle the pressure valve opens this pressure then pushes the outer surface of the bladder so it dispenses all of the suppression material no matter the bottles position.

I was going by this picture, I didn't realize that all Firefox bottles had bladders.

 

Just watching Freiburger's youtube channel and he showed one out on the dirt at El Mirage

Does anyone know how fast he ran?
The record at Bonneville is 140 mph.

 

The instrument panel is about done.

 

Can't find any info of the truck running on the SCTA site. It's not even listed on the El Mirage Nov enteries

 

Looks like he ran at El Mirage May 2024 and ran 123.968 mph
El Mirage Nov 2023: 118.980 mph

How is Frank coming on the engine?

 

He wants to get all the wiring and plumbing done before he starts on the motor.

 

an engine isn't much but a coffee table without all that!

 

There is so much pretty/classy stuff on this truck!

 

There's so much stuff that's necessary for production pickup, but we'll take the plate off before I go down the track.

 

Nice tail gate. Was that mine? If it was you did some nice sheet metal work.
